  • Accurate monitoring: humidity, soil, light, temperature
  • Cloud data storage
  • Connection via Bluetooth

Now you can find out what your plants are missing. Smart Flower Monitor is a device that will help you to understand their needs. You can easily track the level of humidity, lighting, and temperature. Now you do not need a special effort to properly care for your plants, you can easily choose the appropriate conditions for their growing.

During the photosynthesis, your favorite flowers need water and nutrients, as well as the appropriate light and temperature.

Are you sure you have created all the necessary conditions? Despite the fact that the sun seems to always shine the same way, it is very important for plants to get enough UV rays. These values may differ significantly for different plant species. With Xiaomi Flower Monitor you can easily measure the amount of light that your potted plants get and choose the best place for them in your home.

They work great being Bluetooth with the Flower Care app on iOS/Android

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.huahuacaoc…

Also compatible with Home Assistant and bluetooth (as long as your bluetooth on your RPi etc is close enough to the plants)

Is there something that Xiaomi does not make?

    • +1

They only make phones and tablets, everything else they just slap their name on.

      b28 phones

  • Ohh - very cool. Damn you OzBargain & asa79 … more money spent on stupid gadgets I probably don't really need :P

I bought 3 of these from Banggood recently and really regretted the purchase. Not only did it take them a week to post them despite paying extra for priority shipping, but the Bluetooth connection keeps failing every couple of days. I’ve found that you can fix this by removing the battery and putting it back in, but the battery cover is really difficult to remove. A manual prong is so much quicker and easier to use.

    • I'm on the fence here… They're not that cheap that I want to just buy one for every pot plant. They're going to slow down my RPi running home assistant if i run them that way. They're doing a job that I could easily just put in a scheduler.

But they're a cool new automation to put on my HA front page. Hmmm….

      • The Home Assistant doesnt make a connection to all of them at same time, it cycles thru bluetooth devices connections is what i'm under the impression it works

    • I can second this. I have 6 of them and every single one the bluetooth connection stops working after a day or two. Doesn't matter what I do to fix.

I'm running an iPhone 6 so I wouldn't except compatibility issues. They're a great idea let down by connectivity issues.

WTF is this suppose to do???

    • Monitoring: humidity, soil, light, temperature via the flowercare app or automation software like home assistant. Give you alerts when you need to water plants or when they havent had enough sun, etc

They are great when you keep forgetting to water your plants.

We currently use in those self watering pots, so alerts when we need to top it up

      • Do you have the same bluetooth disconnection issues as the above posts?

        • Its something to do with the iPhones and how the bluetooth works not the unit from what I have seen in articles

    • It says in the description

  • Does this monitor ph as well? Is that what they mean by soil in "Accurate monitoring: humidity, soil, light, temperature"?

    • I thought it was soil moisture, but don't have one, so hopefully someone that does can tell us.

      • mositure and nutrients in soil

        • Nitrients? I very much doubt it. Moisture is humidity so that's already specified. It could refer to soil ph as most of these gadgets do that but definitely not nutrients. Imho without ph it's a poor alternative to dip in tools that are sold for $5-$6 on ebay.

        • Oh just read the marketing speil and it's fertility! Those guys are magicians!

    • i've guessing that soil = soil moisture and humidity = air humidity

    • Cloud data storage

Useful for when the plants want rain.

    • Bitcoin rain, yeh?

  • what is wrong with a much cheaper manual probe?

    • +1

with a much cheaper manual probe?

      which include the Medicare rebate…

    • this also keep historic data of your plant, for saving maybe $5 you can buy pen and notebook

      • i'm a keen gardener but i've never kept "historic data" of my plants

        • historic data helps you see which months will need more water or more feed and which months the plant gets less sun etc. Without all the hassles of writing down states every day

        • @asa79: nah - weather changes - knowing how much sun shone last april won't really help me this april, except to know it's autumn… it could be useful if you want to work out why your plants died or why something blossomed faster or slower. Might be useful in a lab?

      • Those manual probes are about $6 on ebay… and they work whether your bluetooth pairs or not. I think these would be much better if they had screens when bluetooth fails.

        • If a manual probe suits your needs then maybe your better of getting one. This is for people that want to do things like this https://www.open-homeautomation.com/2016/08/29/monitor-your-…

        • @asa79: don't get me wrong, I see a lot of benefit from such a device. It's just a shame (from my perspective) that it can only be used with a smart device and there is no fall back mechanism. But if you haven't had any bluetooth issues that sounds a bit more reassuring.
Could you let me know if the button battery is secured with a screw or can a child access it?

        • @wolfshooter: Its like most Mi Sensors that don't have displays. You could always have two sensors a manual and bluetooth one if you need a display out there. The battery cover is clipped on you need a bit of force to open it since its waterproof unit. But no screw

        • @asa79: yeah was thinking of that option (manual + mi). but the battery cover is unfortunately a no go for me as those batteries are deadly to kids with inquisitive fingers… :( And thanks for the info much appreciated!

        • @wolfshooter: It takes alot to get off, but given that mine are in the hanging pot plants which are out of reach anyway

        • @asa79: yeah was considering placing out of reach. Might get one to trial accessibility.

        • @asa79: what kind bluetooth range do you get? Would they work 10m from a pi 3?

        • @wolfshooter: i have measure but plants hanging on back patio and can use it inside without too much hassle

  • it's showing $24 for me?

  • Does this need to be inserted all the way into the soil? Thinking of using this for my bonsai, but it is a pretty shallow pot.

  • there is little dots at the tip that would be reading the soil

    • +1

I got one and think it's great. Purchased another 7! :)

      • I'm looking at same, only issue for me is bluetooth range for the missus vegie patch. Works great for the plants close to the house at moment

        • My single unit is about 6m through a wall and then a glass door to a Rpi3 in a media cabinet and it seems to work well. I guess much further and it may get a bit touch and go.

How did you set up home assistant with this panel?
          https://community-home-assistant-assets.s3-us-west-2.amazona…
I'm using hassio - the sensors come up in the top sensor strip as individual icons but I'd much rather a panel like that one.

        • @wolfshooter: Hassio.io and raspberry pi 3 has bluetooth

        • @asa79: yes I've got it working in hassio, but the sensors don't show up in a neat box or panel like in your screen grab.

        • @wolfshooter: above are a few examples
