Just stumbled across this game for free.

Note: This game is free for Xbox users who have previously purchased a digital copy of the original Castle Crashers for Xbox 360 (released in 2008)

Otherwise, it will cost $19.99 AUD.

Hadn't come up in the Games for Gold this month so there must be some sort of promotion going on. Fun little game which has been upped to 60fps on Xbox One with other improvements over the 360 version.

EDIT: Unconfirmed, but you may have needed to own the 360 version to see the remastered version for free.

      Worked for me, did you try and buy at the normal price? Think that's what I did then it updated to free.

        I did that and it's wanting to charge me $19.95. I do have both an active Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass. This is trying to do it on the web site through my PC so if that has any thing to do with it. I'll try it through my Xbox One S now.

      It was free for me after logging in.
      I "bought" via the console instead of webpage (even though it said free there too).

    Did not work for me.
    Maybe for those that got it for free they have the Xbox 360 version, because there was a promotion to get this game free if you had the xbox 360 version.
    Maybe they brought it back.

    It was originally $19.95, but then became free after I signed in. I own the original on 360, so maybe that's why it is free for me.

    Won't work for me through my Xbox One S. It still wants to charge $19.95. So it's not really free. The only free is the trial.

    So i'm thinking perhaps the OP got the Xbox 360 version because he quoted normally $14.95. When it's $19.95 for it on the store for Xbox One.

      No i'm thinking it's the Xbox 360 version that's being given away for free. OP said normally $14.95. Xbox One version on the store is $19.95 and is not free at all.

      So any one who has an Xbox One are out of luck is not free.

        Any one who doesn't own the older version are being asked to pay $19.95 AUD.

      But the OP quotes $14.99, not $14.95.

      This is interesting however it's dated in 2005. But it says that Castle Crashers Remastered is free is you own the original Castle Crashes. So perhaps it's a case of the OP owned the original Castle Crashers on the account and so he/she got offered the Remastered version for free.

    If you bought it on the 360, you could get the remaster for free.

      Yes because you need to already own the original Castle Crashers for Xbox 360 in order to get the Remastered version for free.

    Yes. Any one who doesn't already own the original Castle Crashers on Xbox 360 have to pay the $19.95 AUD for the Remastered on Xbox One. Those who have it get the Remastered version for free. It's just a case of that. It's just an Remastered update version for a game that you had already previously paid for.

    Remastered version was already in my owned games alongside the 360 game purchased years ago. Didn't have to do anything to get it.

    This was meant to be free like 3 years ago for all people that owned the 360 version but for some reason it wasnt available for Aussies until just recently.

      Yeah. Wasn’t submitted for classification I think. I’d grabbed it for free from the US store when it was easier to buy cross region but.
