Compressor Kit for Painting & Sand Blasting

Hi, I'm doing some landscaping at my house and I'm going to build some Gabion cages out of Galvanised weldmesh and angle.

The process will be welding, sand blasting then spraying with zinc/gal paint.

I'm looking for a good compressor or combo kit that provides all the connections (Spray head and Sand Blaster).

I'm doing about 30 meters of cages but the I don't have any future projects in mind, so a cheaper product or more compact product would be better.

Thanks.

Look for a suitable second hand unit. Resell when task complete.

      suitable second hand unit.

Sandblasting needs a lot of air. The $99 dollars ones from Bunnings won't work unless you've a lot of patience.

      Why sandblast anyway?

      • Thanks,
I do CAD work for a blacksmith and I took his advice on sand blasting the welds.

When you weld you remove the Gal coating and you need to clean (sand blast or brush) then spray with zinc.

        • Wire brush (power, not hand) followed by zinc primer is what most people do.

Sandblasting is a PITA and possibly a bit of overkill. YMMV.

        • @D C: Pro tip, thanks.

I have a grinder to cut the mesh so powered brush sounds like a good plan (Less messing around).

    • Good point.
