    • Are there still any easy ways to idle cards like steamidlemaster?

      • +2
        • +1

"allows you to farm steam cards using multiple steam accounts simultaneously"

And I thought me idling for my 4c cards was already frugal, this takes it next level.

        • +3

          @aragornelessar:

More than 4c spent in electricity idling. False economy.

        • @syousef:

Not if it's not your electricity!

        • +1

@syousef: Not really. You should run it when you're using your PC for something. You don't need to idle all in 1 session. It doesn't use any CPU during idle.

        • @MiniMoo:

Check your facts. A gaming PC draws quite a bit when idle.

        • +1

@syousef: probably still not near as much as downloading things from internet.

        • +1

@syousef: Huh? I said to idle when you are actually using your PC for something, eg. watching YT, a movie, browsing OzB, downloading stuff; you know when you are doing something constructive on your PC. Pls read my post again. ie. start PC, start ASF, start movie or whatever, finished movie, shutdown ASF and PC for night.

          I didn't neg you.

        • +2

          @Superninja418:

WTF does reality get downvoted here? It really irks me. You can't mod or vote yourself to a different reality.

Let's say your computer gaming rig uses 50W idle. I'm not pulling the number out of my backside. That's roughly what an EFFICENT gaming rig's going to pull idle. As you can see gaming's up near 300W.
          http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/intel-core-i7-8700k-pro…

Now let's say you're paying a low rate of 20c/kWH. To use 1kWH, your 50W PC will need to be on for 1000/50 = 20 hrs. To use 4c, 1/5th of the 20hrs, so 4Hrs. But of course your PC certainly isn't idle when it's downloading.

While we're calculating, if you're leaving it on 24hrs idle we're talking 50w x 24hours x 365days = 438kWH. At 20c that's $87.60 per year for just idling. Good luck getting a Windows 10 PC to just idle by the way.

        • @syousef: 'Let's say'?
So you are basing your approximations on an estimate?

        • @Superninja418:

Really? That's what you're going to harp on?

I provided a link that I'd bet good money you didn't bother to look at. I see this time and time again here and elsewhere. If you're not willing to look at what I've provided, don't criticize and don't waste my time. I'll give you a hint, though the figure wasn't a wild stab AND I was being generous.

I'll tell you what, since I don't have your exact hardware specs in front of me, you provide me with your at wall power consumption at idle. Put up or shut up. How many Watts does your setup consume at idle? I'll be happy to do the calculations for you.

@aragornelessar: I’m paying 160 pw to my landlord so I guess I should run this entire week

This is the video game right!? Will it work for Xbox one?

    • +9

Sure if you can figure out how to run Steam Games on Xbox.

    • No, pc only.

    • pcmasterrace.jpg

    • you could play it with an xbox controller on your tv through a pc…

    • +8

Hello! How to video game? Thanks.

    • -3

Haha love the downvotes and funny comments, and useful ones of course too. Perhaps a better title and description might help…

This is formula 1 right!? Will it Lewis Hamilton?

  • +2

After a bit of a read, this game has major controller issues with Xbox controllers (and PS controller too). Still worth grabbing for a freebie though. Apparently Windows updated something or other which broke the game and codemasters haven't patched it.

  • +2

That F1 2017 is currently like $20 on Steam for anyone half interested.

    • It's the same price on the Humble Bundle store too.

  • Thanks OP, got it :) .. F1 is my passion <3

    • +2

Should have got this 3 years ago B-)

  • +1

Having played them all this is easily the worst of theentire series. Just a copy paste of 2014 and they removed some of the key features.

    • +3

      Lucky its free :)

  • Silly question but can this be played on the PC without a Steering Wheel peripheral?

    • You can use a controller.

    • Any Steam game can be played on keyboard including games ported from consoles.

      • OK Cheers.

Going to bring back memories of playing Test Drive 1.

  • Vroom vroom!

    • +1

What F1 cars used to sound like. Now it's just Pfffttt Pfffttt!

  • Cool thanks OP !

  • +1

    Thanks OP!

Very straight forward 'purchase' and then easy redemption through Steam account. Good stuff.

  • +1

Wasn't this F1 one of the worst rated?

    But free is free XD

  • I'm sure this is worth every cent we are paying. Still, need bigger library to impress the ladies.

  • Is it worth getting the F1 2017 if you have this?

    • Ive decided to get the F1 2017. It’s on sale at the moment.

  • Not expired, I just got it. Still live for another two hours.

  • missed it! back to US$39.99. Oh well.
