Redbook Pre Purchase Inspections- Do You Need if Car from Dealer?

Hi All

Looking to purchase a second had car from a dealer- Hyundai i30, 2014.

I am located in the Sunshine Coast and the dealer is in Brisbane. We did the same last time we purchased form a dealer where Redbook did the inspection just to make sure all was okay.

Car is a decent price and looks good in pics. Dealer is going to send me a report they did from their service team, but obviously I would prefer an independent source.

What would you guys do?

  • The i30 is pretty bullet proof. Provided there is a full service history then I doubt a Redbook inspection i going to provide much further info.
If I am correct the i30 came with a 5 year warranty so that would have taken care of any major mechanical issues.
No service book would be a red flag

None of which reports on body damage or crash repair work.

OP - get some sort of inspection done if you can't physically see the car

Though Sunshine Coast to Brisbane isn't that far… Go look at and drive the damn car and don't be lazy!

  • Thanks all.

I think for the small cost we will go for an inspection. At worst it is going to just give piece of mind.

    Thanks
