Dyson DC29 Multi Floor Barrel Vacuum $236.55 Delivered @ Dyson Australia eBay

2340
PICK5PAY5LESSPLUCK5

Like my previous deal, Dyson has just cut the price on these units in half making this another hot deal. Appears they're clearing the shelves after announcing they're going totally cord free. It’s also one of two vacuums that sent Aldi shoppers in a spin a few months ago at $349. Sales history shows these were selling for $499 last month through Dyson’s official eBay store. Ensure you apply one of the coupons above at checkout for the 5% discount. Enjoy :)

        • @ttc72: How do DC29 and DC54 compare? I hve DC 54 and I dont like it over Dyson stick due to non electric motor head.
It makes it difficult to move on carpet…

        • @Gaggy:
For carpet the dc54 (animal - motorized head) is very good, if you have mainly hard floors I'd stick with the dc29.

        • @ttc72: I have DC54 animal and I am sure though head moves, but it is not motorised. It works from the airflow :(

Great deal. Perfect to replace my very useless Vax.

  • +1

Thanks TA, need to replace my dying no-name cheapie. It sucks bad. This one will suck better I'm sure.

  • +6

    These are heavy and bulky.
Price is only great because initial RRP was very high.

There are better bagless vacuums available now.

    • These are heavy and bulky.

      lol, sure granddad

    • +1

There are better bagless vacuums available now.

      Honestly interested in which?

    • +3

Your link only shows the 1 star reviews which isn't very balanced.
      All reviews… https://www.productreview.com.au/p/dyson-dc29.html

Ooops, apologies all, thanks for pointing that out Sasquire

        • No probs. :)

      • +1

for RRP$499 vacuum machine only has 3.6 stars. that doesn't look nice.

    • Please disregard my link, use the other link

  • +3

Someone just purchased 72! of these… He/She will post on OzB for $350 after this sale

    • +1

Probably Gerry Harvey ready to try flog emn off for $500 a piece

  • Hmm bold move for Dyson if they are going to be completely cord free.

    • +1

the wording was develop new corded vacs, so we are likely to see some of the currrent corded models for a few years, just no new models.

  • +2

Why cant they just make em wireless charging ? drop in the dock and presto

    • -2

May be self-rechargeable? Say when the motor is running, it will generate power to recharge itself?

      • Cheeky comment perhaps? Perpetuum mobile has been elusive for millennia.

        • +1

The classic buttered bread on a cat will do it!

    • takes longer to charge with induction especially with the size batteries these things use. the concern might be if you couldn’t do whole house on one charge.

like qc3 with a micro usb vs wireless charger.

  • +5

Brother works at Dyson uk and they are going to stop manufacturing corded vacs by the end of July. Once that happens no more corded models will be built so only stock left on shelves will be available.

You will see a lot of these being discounted over the next few weeks. Dyson has just announced the new v10 and in the process also announced they will no longer be making these style of vacs anymore. They will be clearing all the stock as they move into the “next phase” of their business.

    • Yup, already linked in OP.

      • +3

Was actually replying to comment a few above where they said Dyson will still make corded vacs for a while longer. I just don’t know how to internet properly. Lol.

        • +1

I read it as "stop developing" instead of actually "stop producing" corded vacs as well.

It doesn't make sense because I prefer (I have both corded/cordless Dyson) using corded vacs for more heavy duty requirements around the home, cleaning the car etc.

If they're completely stopping production maybe I should stock up on a spare corded barrel dyson, lol.

    • +1

would have thought send the dc29 tooling to china and make them forever as they pursue the cordless market…. it is one hell of a gamble , especially until they can bring the prices down, at least at the moment they have a $300 vac on shop floors when on sally the dc29 …. what will be the cheapest dyson moving forward.

must be patent on cyclonic has expired as we see so many knock offs now .

  • +3

I have a DC29 bought years ago. It is the best vacuum cleaner I have ever used. No loss in suction, no dust bag replacements and easy to clean out the dust. At under $250 it is a great bargain. Sometimes I think the suction is too strong and my carpet is thinning out.

  • PANIC MODE, Samsung stick is on the way….

    • +3

      xiaomi stick will follow.

      • nah, xiaomi robot gen 3 .. will eat all sticks & barrels

      • Does it have band 28?

        • has notification led for when to empty the dirt.

  • Tempted! We have hard floors no carpets though… and my 5 y/o $25 vacuum from this deal is still going strong. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/90283 Haha.

    • Fluffy head is what you need

  • My dc21 is still going strong after 10+ yrs. My v6 has had about 6 new parts sent out from dyson in 2 yrs

Cordless is good but battery life isn't enough to do large houses

    • -2

      Move into an apartment

  • Thanks - we use these as promo give aways at work, just grabbed a few!

  • +1

i don’t think this is the model comes with the power head ( motorised) $129 which is what you want if you have carpets to lift the fibres and get the dirt out. without that you can get the same cleaning from most bagels vacs, i also have a piranha cyclonic ( kmart) which is lighter than my dyson and i use for non carpet cleaning does same job except on carpet.

check what other deals are going as accessories bundled are cheaper than if you need to buy on their own.

    • +2

Probably the most innovative piece from Dyson is the motorised head, kinda defeats the purpose without it.

    • Do the old powerheads work with this. I have a dc26. Thing still works fine but the hose has more sticky tape than hose now.

      • i have a dc23 and it has a motorised head with power connectors in the wand.

      • I rang Dyson to ask (I have an old DC23 with powerhead) that I want to use with a new DC29. It seems the old 240v powered ones won't fit it (grr) seems that the newer heads are "turbine" driven (use the suction to spin the brush) so it's a no go.

The new ones seem to be these: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/dyson-dc23dc29-turbine-head-9…

I'm not 100% convinced that I was given accurate information, but I'll find out next week when my DC29 arrives. But everything I see leads me to think there is no 240v at the head end, so no practical way to use it.

        I hope I'm wrong.

        • if it has the power connectors in the wand, the motorised head is spare part $149 from dyson.

  • +2
    • +5

i think the fact ozbargainers haven’t bought them all since last night says that the real value has been scrutinised already ….
it is dysons cheapest entry level corded vac, and hasnt had any updates in about 7 years in the cyclonic design.

like buying an iphone 5 because you want an iphone.

      • +2

Yeah because they're going to sell 1700 vacuums in 8 hours, probably cut that down to 2-3 because it was early hours lol. Theres still a demand for them.

    • Haha the eBay spokesperson has just plagiarised TA's description in this thread.

      • what was plagiarised?

        • Well it reads just like this post. Mentions the Aldi deal and that Dyson are going cord free. I doubt the journo got those details from anywhere else.

  • Done.

  • Thx OP. The motor in the vacuum cleaner I use to clean our car's burnt out yesterday. I was going to go to BigW today and get a cheapy replacement for $100. But when I saw this, I figured this would last me 3 times as long and do a better job, so why not….

    • +1

2 year warranty and great parts backup you can’t go wrong. you can also get non genuine parts for them on ebay.

  • Target had it for $99 so this is not a deal at 2.5 times the price

  • +4

I've gone cordless and I ain't looking back.

DC44 Animal and a V6 Animal since whenever the DC44 came out.

Those worried about batteries running run, so far able to do a whole house no worries. Just don't have it on Max speed. Also after a big clean set your house in zones so you do them separately on different days, being cordless means you can sneak a 15 minutes of vacuuming here and there.

    • i think zoning is the go , i do whole house on a weekend and the stick vac doesn’t cut it but it’s great for one or 2 rooms ….. and i can’t be bothered lugging the corded out.

    • I vac my house 90% of time in the V8 simply because it's just more convenient than the Dyson corded vac. However there are times when the corded version triumphs and this is usually when I do full house cleaning. Dyson V8 max duration on full charge is 40mins and it goes lower as the years past by. Plus, the turbo button/switch on the V6/V8 is basically normal mode on the corded vacs, there's way more suction power via cord.

  • +1

FYI - The Dyson V10 is just around the corner, hence why they are clearing stock.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mikt2IY-Fwg

  • How many units you reckon they have in stock?

    • Right now they have 684 remaining and 1034 sold.

      Therefore ~1718 units.

  • anyone has got experience using MIELE Blizzard CX1 Multi Floor?

  • I once had the carpet repaired in a rental place I used to live in (was damage from a previous tenant the landlord arranged).

The repairer lifted the carpet and went 'What the? This is the cleanest carpet I've ever worked on, where the hell is the dust?'

I brought out my Dyson DC19. He was absolutely shocked! Not a speck of dust anywhere!

That being said, I would run the head over the same spot of carpet 3 or so times just to be sure, to be sure.

I think any vacuum cleaner these days with a decent head is good enough. Long gone are the days of poorly designed zero suction bagged vacuums. Pay reasonable coin from any big manufacturer and you can't really go wrong. I went Dyson because I had bad allergies back in the day and it was the only one that was semi-reasonable in price with the features I needed.

  • 160 sold in an hour, over 600 sold already, they will be in the news and can talk about the vx10 cheap way to get tv time.

reminds me of the free burger deals where they. shrink the meat patties , cheap advertising

  • good first vacuum cleaner for me when moving into my first apartment :)
don't need anything crazy so i think this vacuum will suit us

  • they are selling these cheap to get rid of these obsolete things..
u buy one. and in a year u will be envious of the new stick range.

    https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2018/03/dyson-cyclone-v10-absolut…

    • Agree. These things will be a relic of the past.

      • You think a lot of people going to fork out $900 for this?

  • +1

Really needs the motorised head to be a decent vacuum… was looking a cheap replacement but $129 for the motorised head on top not so great a deal… 2 long haired ladies in the household that shed more than any pet.

  • Thanks TA! Got one :)

  • Still got a DC 22 "Dyson Baby" , going strong, with no problems. I will miss Corded Vacuums. Nothing comes Close.

  • +1

Great vacs, love my animal, decided to grab one of these as a backup.

  • +1

Maybe old tech but still a bargain! Thanks TA

  • +1

I have a Dyson Animal and at first it was amazing. My friend borrowed it and used it to vacuum his carpet and it sucked the crap out of it.

Eventually it 'loss' suction even though I tried cleaning the filter. One day, my dad told me to get the leaf blower to clean the whole thing. After that, it was as good as well, the suction returned to the beginning. Didn't realise how much dust was stuck in it.

Simply emptying and tapping the canister isn't enough. If you have access to a strong leaf blower, use that to clean the device and it should work well again.

    • +1

An air compressor is great for this too (though you'll want to hold your breath while doing so!!)

  • 1,455 sold
    More than 83% sold

I'm expecting the limit would be 2k max and thats a wrap folks

    • Hmm looks like they have 1455/.83 = ~1754 units available.

      • +1

        close it was 1730 =p

        • +1

          eBay can't maths lol

  • +1

Thanks OP, have used this before and love it.. I have a cordless V6 but would rather have the endless power of AC Power. Also being tight don't like the 1k price tag of the V10 lol Cheers:)

    • Same, I have V6 but battery life just sucks. Was in need of this!

  • +2

Just bought my first apartment. This is perfect starter. Thanks OP!

  • Now marked as out of stock

  • +2

All gone as at 4:05pm Monday. 1730 units sold.

  • These were selling like crazy…feel lucky to have got one before it was sold out!

    • Me too. I was sitting on the fence the entire day. Bought at 96% sold.

      • How do you know the % sold?

        • They had it sitting there in red text in availability.

  • I bought 2 lol, only needed 1. Felt like I should have bought another one just for the bargain.

    • +1

spare parts for life if you canabalise the 2nd one.

  • Another one bites the dust.

  • +1
