  • Thanks for the post. Are these beans suitable for an espresso machine to be drunk with milk (i.e. latte)?

  • +1

Can confirm they are great beans for espresso machine. I use these beans with my Breville machine and they are great.

  • +1

Perfect timing, almost out of beans

  • The buying experience made me feel like a cheap 2 bit whore, but I am excited about the beans :-)

Coming from a self professed coffee snob, do not get 2kg of coffee if you can't consume within a month of roast date as it defeats the purpose of paying a little more for good beans. You're better off getting maybe a 1kg deal (even that is a lot of coffee).

    • Agreed. The last of my (now) 6 week old Fortitude is pretty tired :(
So time to buy more :)

  • +2

Colombian Popayan Reserve has skyrocketed to my top beans list.
I would order more but still have more from last deal.

  • st ali beans suck

    • Curious as we had a similar experience, but what does this post have to do with St Ali?

      • sorry take that back just checked and it wasn't mama beans - carry on

  • Always order and enjoy Manna beans… but curious if anyone else got ethiopia yirgacheffe for their lucky dip? I thought my milk was off, did a full detox on my machine (not totally wasted time) to realise it was the beans. Do I need my tastes to mature? What were others thoughts?

    • Ethiopians generally are very fruity/floral and aromatic. Can be amazing but also polarizing.

I try to avoid sending these as lucky dips but am away in NZ and my staff may have sent some more expensive single origin Ethiopian from excess of a full priced websale.

Have you tried making as a black coffee or Aeropress? After a few minutes allowing to cool down they can really shine.

You are also correct though with development time, I find rather than the average 3-5 days degas time, often the Ethiopians perform best after about 14 days :)

    How long is shipping usually?

    • Read the reviews and decided to take the plunge. Ordered the $35 deal. Can't wait to try it now.

    • Yeah can anyone confirm this? Also, do you get any notification of order besides the paypal receipt in E-mail?

EDIT: May have answered my own question. I've just received an E-mail from Aus Post quoting delivery of 2 days (which is good).

  • Received my beans. Have tried the Colombian blend so far and it is great. Top stuff.

Any advise on how best to store coffee beans?

  • got acid trip as lucky dip,

just awful….mix of allrubbish beans they cant sell. second time i get it. last time now

    • Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy. The coffee deal with "Acid Trip" was about 6-12 months old so I would suggest that you may be better drinking within the 1st month of roasting when the beans are actually fresh roasted as advertised. We only ever once sent this blend out a long time ago and not with this deal

If drinking beans that are much older then I would suggest you may be better buying darker roasted coffee from the supermarket as these are roasted darker to hide the defects and fact that they are technically stale.

Also brewing method and how the beans are baristered play a huge role in the end result.

These are all direct trade specialty coffees from the farmers and roasted to industry standards with multiple awards in the specialty coffee industry to benchmark their quality.

Taste is subjective and if you needed advice on how to barista and drink then it may have been more productive to send me an email rather than bag me out on Ozbargain as I would have been more than happy to provide further advice or assistance. I hope you find something more suitable to your taste or expectations.
