Subaru Outback 2015 - 2.5l - Stop Start Battery Charger

Hi guys,

Anyone have battery charger recommendations for a Stop/Start Subaru.

Had mine die recently (2 and a half year old factory battery).

Will probably get a replacement battery but don't want to get stuck at home again…

I was considering this..

But I'm not car savey….

I have CTEKS and NOCO chargers in my workshop.

The Noco are kinder to the batteries, but both will do the job.
Look up Autoelec for the best price in AU

    Your link is way overpriced!!
Repco are having 40% off CTEK currently if that helps

Get at least a 5Amp model.

  • I use ctek for my camping battery (12V deep cycle) and it does the job nicely.
I think it probably came from Autoelec.

  • I have a Ctek - works great.

  • After 2.5 years, the battery is probably close to cactus in any event. My car batteries last about 3 years or so.

Really? the last ones I've had to replace were 6 and 7 years old.

      • That's been my experience across a few different cars over the last 15-20 years. Certainly in my recent experiences, the guys who come out to change them tell me that once you get to about 3 years, you're on borrowed time.

Maybe that's just what they tell me to feel better about parting with $200-odd every three years?

        • I have the stop-start feature disabled 80-90% of the time by either turning it off with the button or by controlling the brake pressure, my original battery is clocking up 4 years and 10 months now, it is showing sign of ageing, may or may not make it through the coming winter, these batteries cost a fortune to replace unless you get an after market one, the fuel saving is not worth the cost of replacing a prematurely dead battery i recon

  • Just turn the stop/start feature off with button near gear lever. I doubt it saves all that much fuel for the annoyance of starting all the time.

  • I have a mate with a 3 yr old subaru VX
the thing keeps a record of how much fuel saved etc in 3 yrs he has done about 55k and saved 33 litres LOL
