      there are loads of smart downlights on the market….. just replace you existing bulb with a smart bulb rather than an entire… expensive unit…..

  The Philips Hue branded downlights in this deal do not seem to be very bright (max 600 lumen for 9W or max 250 lumen for the 5.5W downlights).

  The third-party option by Zemismart (12W Smart LED Downlight Kit | RGBW Colour Hue(lectory.com.au) - $63 After 10% Discount) seems to be much brighter at 800-900 lumen.

  Rep, would you be able to confirm whether any of these downlights require a downlight cover or require minimum clearances from insulation in the roof space?

    None of these downlights requires a downlight cover, but we need to make sure the insulation material in the roof should not touching the plastic cover of the lamps.

    Consider the low wattage they are operating on, there is no minimum clearance from insulation required manufacturer.

    However, to extend the lifespan of these lamps, we recommend leaving 5cm space from nearest insulation material while installing these lamps if possible.

    They all have their own plugs, no electrician is required as long as you have roof sockets/quick connectors pre-installed on your roof.
