    $109 for a genuine filter :\
it's almost as bad as replacement heads for their toothbrush's.

Why can't they do a washable filter!
I feel like i'd be going through them more than normal from the amount of dust my dog seems to get everywhere in my house.

HEPA filters can't be washed. Washing can destroy the delicate fibres, opening unwanted holes. It can also trap water molecules further reducing efficiency and pushing dirty air through the easiest course. There is no standard that applies to so called washable HEPA filters.

HEPA isn't designed to trap large particles (dust and dog hair) - that's what prefilters are designed to do. Most plastic prefilters can be washed and reused. Or use an additional carbon sheet, which can be purchased at much lower cost.

I vacuum my filters out and it works fine.
Also, the "non-genuine" replacement filters on Ebay work just as well.

Can I add it to my wifi Mesh?

    • I know you're joking but this does connect to wifi and can be controlled via Google Home

This or Kmart's Large Air Purifier? Filters only at $29 and reviews seems okay.

    • I’m curious too

@tempting @Rorku I bought the Kmart large air purifier but returned it as it didn't work. Tested it during the bushfire season. May have been a faulty unit.

I currently have the large Trusens Z-3000, small Xiaomi 4 Compact and portable Sunbeam On-The-Go air purifiers. All seem to be working.

Ranking of air purifiers tested by Choice in April 2023:

Roughly in the middle, Choice rated Trusens Z-3000 just ahead of the large Kmart Anko and then Philips 1000i AC1215/70 below. It's the previous model Philips. Amazon is now selling AC1715/70 model

  • How does this compare to the Trusens Z-3000 Large?
Plus I'd only wash the filters and not replace them

Can't comment which is better or washing the filters.
I've been looking at the Philips air purifiers for a few years. Philips update their models regularly (more often than other brands) and some people complained that they couldn't find the filters so have to upgrade to the new model. Hence I bought the Trusens Z-3000 which seems to work.

Trusens Z-3000 is more bulky. Both support similar room sizes.
Philips has wifi, with alexa & google home integration.
Trusens has the separate sensor, which is a good feature but can be inconvenient.

      • Also noticed that the philips not only is smaller but boasts 78m2 as opposed to 70m2 recommended area coverage. Both prefilters can be washed too. The camels price for the philips is only $10 more than the all time low. I don't see anything about UV filtering for the Philips one which is a good sign since UV light filtering barely even works while Trusens boasts about it.
