  • No one uses "DJ" anymore, not the good ones at least. RetroMetro ain't bad.

    • OK then i will take that into consideration, but what ya think of the song?

  • Just use a combination of consonants with a ratuo of 5 consonants to one vowel.

    Include the consonants X, Y, and/or V.

Optional, replace an alphabet with a similar looking number.

    Inverted alpahbets are a plus.

    Example - BЯXK3И

    • cool ok, what ya think of the song?

        It is catchy.

I'm probably not your demographics. I can see where you're going with your sound and I reckon it will be interesting to see what you come up with as your identity as a musician matures.

    • see example - CVnt5 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIGSXdj-gj0 (This could be you)

  • RetroMetro is better than DJ Down Under.

The song is annoying, but I am not into that sort of music. I remember playing with Fruity Loops when I was 12.

  • Thats a terrible name. Your OzB username is better.

The song is terrible too. Keep working on it though. Flume started making out making beats from a free music program he got in a cereal box so just goes to show keep working you never know where you will end up. good luck!

That is a terrible name. The song is terrible too.

Oh to the Zee to the Bee?

      • +1

        anything with O, Z, and B
trust me that 3 letters will become trendsetter in the world in near future.

  • DOWN UNDER is a bit too Ocker for DJing I think?
Unless you wanna be a pub DJ playing good old Aussie rock classics?

Your song isn't bad at all, how long have you been making tunes? Definitely ditch DJ down under though, alot of djs now just use their name or a play on their name, look at the lineups of recent EDM festivals for inspiration. Copying the professionals is what you're supposed to do when you're starting out :)

    Snare is poo.

    • yeah ikr, cause i was trying to do glitch hop like 'The Fat Rat' but it turned out quite bad

      • It's good you can pick it doesn't sound the best, that just makes your ear get better. Keep it up dude, don't stop making music!

        • CHEERS ;)

        • Not sure if you'll like this dude but i like him, kinda glitchy - Woolymammoth - CULT. The drop at 2:31 is my favorite.

        • @shirtfront: hey its not bad, doesn't rely on that huge deep bass drop that so many other songs have

  • Thanks everyone for being honest my song is quite basic so it isn't the best :(. But im getting better. Also Thanks for name suggestions, 'DJ DOWN UNDER' is quite crap. Might Stick with Retro Metro or anything else that seems appealing.

  • Not sure if it is my earphones but Origin doesnt seem to have much of a bass kick to it.

And also as everyone suggested, avoid the word DJ.

  • Down down

    Few tips:
    Avoid DJ
    Make it pronounceable
    Make it unique
    Make it catchy/rhyme

Cycle through a whole bunch of names and don't stop until you find the one that feels right.

    Call yourself SPIN4SIN
as a 61 yr old I can't appreciate the music sounds same as anything the youth blasts their ears drums apart, and given the use of drugs at any music event they're probably too far gone to care what the music is, you probably could play the tune fwd, then backward in a 3 hr loop and no one would care

I do wish you well however

    • +1

      haha ok, thanks

  • Keep working at it .Was pleasant but my taste runs to a little more bass .Good luck.

  • DJ OzBikies ftw

  • Try something simple like jv

  • Don't dislike the songs, not super memorable tho. Biggest issue I think is how it doesn't really progress anywhere, just the same sorta beat for 2 minutes and then fade out.

  • DJ Windows 3.1!

    Dingo took my DJ ?

  • Hey just thinking how bout just Ch!pz? No DJ

Good on you! Are you going to be DJing at events or is it just for your producing name? I made about 90 tracks using FL Studio back in the late 90s/early 00s, including two albums. I'm sure you have a lot of tracks you started and never finished, so thanks for sharing your two finished tracks. I liked the second one a lot better. Don't forget to go back and develop your "unfinished" tracks also.

I was always highly inspired by the music of John Carpenter from his 70s and 80s films. He did all his own music for his films with no formal training (like me), just coming up with tones/melodies, layering it on and on until it sounded like something real good. (There are some great live videos on YouTube of him playing his music live!) I also incorporated a lot of movie samples in my tracks.

As for a name, try looking at technology and engineering terms for inspiration, and look at computer component (eg. video cards) names also. There is a goldmine is cool-sounding tech-names already created there.

    • Cheers mate, MVC (most valued commentator). Would it be possible to keep in touch with you as you have got experience with FL Studio? Perhaps some tips on creating songs. Also do you have any of the songs still available that i could listen to? Also for now im thinking of Ch!pz as my producer name
