I was looking around for a good option to use for my NBN FTTP which doesn't need a modem.

This Netgear R7000P 802.11ac WiFi router with 1x WAN 4X Gigabit LAN ports seems perfect.

Sydneytec lists it on their eBay store at $289 but they're offering a 10% discount themselves which drops it to $260.10. Applying the eBay PICK5 5% off code further reduces the price to $249.09 :-)

Wirecutter's review rates the Netgear Australia R7000P as the best WiFi Router for most people

Netgear’s R7000P is a dual-band, three-stream 802.11ac router with simple, functional, load-balancing band steering, which minimizes frustration by automatically distributing your connected devices between the router’s two wireless bands. That means right out of the box it will work better than any router you’ve ever had, and you’ll never have to decide which band to connect to.

The R7000P features noticeably longer range than previous Nighthawk routers on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, and its full-featured Web interface is easy for novice and expert users alike. Add in the simple setup and powerful band steering, and it’s the best router for most people.

Access and control your router from anywhere using features such as NETGEAR genie remote access, ReadyCLOUD, OpenVPN, and Kwilt app

Control your home network with voice commands using Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant.

    • D7000 is: WiFi + VDSL/ADSL Modem + Router

R7000P is more specialised: Wifi + Router

People who have NBN FTTP or NBN HFC don't need a modem

Usually network hardware that tries to do lots of different functions in one box isn't as good as buying seperate hardware that does fewer functions at a better quality level

So you pay more for less.

Great router, I am very happy with mine. It also supports various WRT firmwares (Tomato, DD-WRT) for those that want more control over their networks
