  • this has ethernet support which is awesome

too bad clive peeters isn't in sydney any more

For those who live in Sydney and are interested in ordering the TV. Just checked on the Clive Peeters website and the cost of delivering the TV to Sydney metro area is approx $29.05 (used quite a few different post codes from throughout Sydney)

I am SPEWING! bought this tv today from ….. Clive Peeters and i can tell you it wasn't $498. Ticketed special for $622, got it down to $580, thought i had myself a bargain. Going back tomorrow with the web printout and their 14 day price guarantee, so thanks OP for hopefully putting $82 back in my pocket. (Good Guys has this TV for $852)

About the telly, i have another one of this same model in a bedroom, awesome tv. Bought purely for the LAN port. Works seemlessly using Windows Media Player as a media server (also works with Twonky, Mezzmo and a couple of others i have tried - don't bother with the Samsung software) As seemingly with all Samsung TV's the EPG is rubbish, takes ages to update what is on the channels. Samsung say thay they do the EPG on the fly to ensure up to date info. Everyone else does this far better. The only other downside is that i have a NAS chocked full of movies, which the Samsung cannot play (i believe it cannot read off the NAS as it is formatted as XPS - saying that i use Mezzmo as a media server through another PC and works fine)

    Great tv for $498

BTW i was somewhat surprised with the prices at Clive Peeters (now apart from this one!), they seemed far sharper than what they used to be, must be Gerry's influence. They had a 50 inch Pana Full HD 3D Plasma $1399 with the freebie Xbox 360 and Kinect.

  • I'm going into JBhifi tomorrow to see how close they can price match bing lee maybe a better option to haggle as there normal price is $599 :) if i fail i'll order it from clive.

Hmmmm….$20.37 postage to WA as well. That's a quick way for them to lose a bit more money!!

  • $498 is cheaper than what you can get it for from the U.S. (LN32C550)

  • clive peeters!! eee, eee, eeeasy…. (talk about brainwashed)

  • +1

Sweet! Supports playback of mkv and divX via USB and ethernet (although unsure yet if it will read from a UPnP device (network storage0 Will find out though as I ordered one! Now I can play Black Ops and the wife can watch TV.. at the same time….

    • link me to where you found info on mkv/avi support via lan?

    • I haven't got it working with a MKV file. They just don't show up on the file listing. Definately avi on usb/lan. As said in my above comment it doesn't play off my NAS directly (Buffalo), but via Mezzmo media server, plays everything. (some media servers will let you transcode on the fly meaning in theory you can play mkv's). Hope this helps.

      • yes it plays mkv via usb or lan no need to do transcoding

"The 32” 50Hz Samsung LA32C550 LCD TV Series 5 is the easier way to live a full HD life"

LOL. Maybe I prefer to live my life in SD and 4:3. Try and stop me, Samsung!
Still pretty pricey for a TV of only 32 inches.

Find me a 32 inch full hd with a good picture with LAN and 4 HDMI's for under this price. I've had a good look, and there ain't any out there that i have seen.

      • there ain't any? i found this with price $100 lower, it is ' Hisense 32 inch full hd' Clive peeters sale it for $399, it is not on the web, i found it on the catalague. this link may be useful
        http://www.insanedeals.com.au/hisense-81cm-hl32v87-p-2281.ht…

from my view, the samsung one is better but it is more expensive compare to this

        • That Hisense is not full HD.

        • Not Full HD, no LAN, only 1 usb, no thanks.

you know the LED sanyo 32 inch is only 499 at Big W?

    • +2

dont think you can compare a sanyo to a samsung tbh….

      • +2

THe QTY of image on the sonyo is very bad vs Samsung, like night and day! the LED backlight doesnt fix this!

        • i would like to say that after looking at the sonyo in store at dick smith its much better then i thought.. but uses almost twice the power ( even though its LED ) then THIS NON led samsung tv! :)

  • link's broken

Anyone in brisbane thats interested in this be aware they have no stock at any stores but the warehouse apparently has 13 on order.

I went in to Harvey Norman (Everton Park) and tried to price match. The sales guy didnt believe me but when i showed him the clive peeters webpage on my phone he said he would match it but not beat it. When i went to the check out he had entered it in the system as $459, so im not sure if he made a mistake entering the price or did beat it, but im happy none the less.

    • Are you able to upload your receipt at all please?

    • yes, please upload your receipt if possible, I might try my luck at Harvey Norman too.
      Thanks in advance.

    • would also appreciate a receipt upload, might head to HN everton park tomorrow - do you know the name of the guy too?

    • Hi sorry about the late reply. 1st attempt at posting photos up so bear with me.

Dont know the guys name but he was American.
      Hope this helps

      • Kevin perhaps?

      • Thanks heaps!!! How did you manage to buy it on the 28/12/10 3:55pm when this deal was posted on the 28/12/2010 6:55pm? lol. Did you already have a heads up or are harvey normans times screwed up?

  • Not bad. I have the Series 6 cousin (LA32C650) which I think is excellent in features and picture quality. I should think the Series 5 one would be on par in picture quality, but is 50Hz versus 100Hz; and is also missing Internet TV feature which is awesome (YouTube, Google Maps, BigPond TV, etc.).

  • dam paid $650 not long ago. great tv plays all media through network or usb. also awesome for use as a pc monitor and gaming, better than c650 which has way worse input lag. only downside is some ghosting

  • can't find it anymore in the link, all gone?

  • Thanks musique.
What are the chances that Sony will have another free PS3 promo with a 32" BRAVIA LCD?
And if so, would that be under $800?

    • Noticed Big W has this (BRAVIA + PS3) for $999.

      • i picked one up for $797 :)

  • I've rung harvey norman around sydney south west and none will price match it at all. Has any one had any luck? They said they'll do the c450 at $498 but not the c550.. :-(
    Edit: typos

  • why did someone say it was full HD when it's not? also, I could only find the series 4 for $498. or has the deal expired???

  • Dont think you can add it to cart now..jbhifi in nsw dont have stock and harvey norman are saying no way cos clive peeters isnt in nsw and the price is online and not in a catalogue.. Spewing!

  • just purchased mine online this mourning
so glad cause they just taken add to cart button away
think this post might be expired then
use it as a price match

  • Anyone that is purchasing this i think we can get a free bluray player with this aswell

Bing Lee Prospect(Sydney) Best price $490. Original price $568.

  • +1

I'm pretty sure its the c550. The price was $568 in the store and negotiated down to $490.
There are better ones but you will have to pay more.

This TV is very good for this price.

    • Thanks mate.. im going to give Bing Lee a go now =)

  • I'm pretty unhappy atm, turns out clive peeters is out of stock until the end of jan, and are offering me this panasonic instead: http://viera.panasonic.com.au/products/VIEra/LCD/TH-L32U20A. I'm still deciding..

    • Go into a store and look at the clarity of the viera. Plus side is it has a 5 star energy rating.. better than the 4 star of the samsung.
Just letting you know, i just price matched the samsung tv in Bing Lee at Liverpool (nsw) for $459. Thanks to mickjor http://img282.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=19096_IMG_2010122…
Apparently Bing Lee's cost price is $436.. so i got an awesome deal! Plus its $60 for an extra 4yr warranty (so 5 yrs altogether). BARGAIN!

      • Could you post your receipt if possible? I got the whole speil about it being in another state

        • i'll try to give it a go later.. i have to get ready for work. Basically i asked for them to price match.. then they gave me the spiel about it being in another state then i told them about the ozbargain website.. they checked it out for themselves and wallah they rice matched.. I have rung over 20 Harvey Norman, Retravision and Bing Lee stores over the last 24 or so hours. The 2nd best price i got was $485 from Bing Lee Fairfield.. and then next best was around $520 from other stores (which still ends up cheaper than clive peeters and their compulsory delivery for nsw). Most Harvey Normans wouldnt even go near the $520 mark though

        • Heres my uploaded receipt for the $459 price match at Bing Lee Liverpool (NSW). Sorry for the poor quality.

          http://img403.imageshack.us/i/bingleereceipt.jpg/

        • Thanks for the upload mate. They refused to match the $459 but they would beat clive peeters price slightly @ $490 so that was fine with me. Built in media player is really handy :)

  • where did you buy it from impulse555?

    • Bing Lee Liverpool lol.

      • LMAO!!!! Who served you? Troy was really good to us when we bought our tv! Oh and as i listed above, Bing Lee Fairfield were willing to do the tv for $485 after a bit of negotiating =P
