think i’m all over the cricket thing, …. it’s just a business, heck we bugged east timor parliament so we could cut a better trade deal, the chinese swimmer only got 3months for doping so he could compete in olympics, if it cheating at horse racing would have been off the news by now.

the sth african only got 3 weeks for ball tampering ,

      • +1

Judging by the downvotes I think Ozbargain's over having a sense of humour.

      • the chinese swimmer only got 3months for doping
so, the whole Olympic committee is corrupted, including Aussies?
He is the ONLY one in the world was banned for using that drug, and the drug was white listed again 3 months later. Check your fact mate!

        • +1

maybe others competing at that level were smart enough not to use while it was black listed is why he was the only one banned for using it ……?

once white listed maybe more would test for it now.

it’s all just a business, and if you win you get the $$$$ if you loose you get $$ …… and they hope you will watch or buy stuff with their brand to keep the $$$ flowing …. my son still plays cricket with his friends, i haven’t changed brands of swimwear.

guess i’m tired or being manipulated by the PR firms, marketeers etc that sports associations use, it’s not about building a healthier population and uptake of people being active ……and then we have the betting companies jumping onto the sports bandwagon …..

      • +5

Australia loves to get on their high horse when other countries cheat in cricket so it's fair that the world is giving our team shit over it.

Also, cricket is a boring, rubbish sport anyway.

        • it’s not the world that is giving us rubbish, that has subsided ….. it’s australians giving australian rubbish that is till going.

        • +1

@garage sale: Is it? I must admit, I am so over seeing the media go on about it. Funny how we Aussies are so harsh on our own sportspeople. Other countries aren't like that.

        • @imurgod: >Other countries aren't like that.

          Er … wut?

        • @imurgod:

England's press absolutely gives it to them when they lose. Rugby, soccer/football, cricket. Don't think we're the only ones that are harsh.

        • @aleayr: I wonder if all the retarded role model for children bullshit is bought up overseas?

It's this wierd thing where sportspeople are criticised for setting a bad example for the entire nations children as though they're the reason that people's kids are turning out to be shitty people.

Seeing as about 95% of the nations children could give a shit about who a sportsperson is the whole charade is being played out for the parents buying habits presumably.

        • +1

          @aleayr: actually, good point

    • +1

Yes, but note that it's slightly used as it's been down a cricketer's pants.

  • just bought my first lot in Queensland. another 3 tommorrow cheers

    • +2

Equivalent 24 can slab cost of $48

      • Yeah… Not exactly a bargain for tinnies.
        Always preferred glass.

        • Tinnies are better for storage. Pour in to a cold beer glass.

  • +1

It's no Vaucluse bitter (lol google it it's funny)

    • That VB stunt was awesome!

    • +2

It's hilarious that people are so gullible they think the Vaucluse Bitter story really happened

  • +2

    Gritty taste?

    • No. Cans are scuffed on one side though.

      • Should put a spin on things :D

  • +4

Bought this recently paid $24 at FirstChoice didn’t realise they were only 330ml always felt like I was a mouthful short! Pretty good brew though

  • +2

330ml cans, wish they did 375 std sizes …. who dreamed up this 330ml thing when we do mainstream beer in 375 cans and stubbies.

so about $48 per slab if it was 24 not 10 cans ?

    • Genius!

      • +1

maybe should be priced with price per litre like they do for soft drinks …. that would be an eye opener for 330ml vs 375ml rather than the “ costs about 10% or you are getting 10% less” maths.

        • +2

except with alcohol there is a vary in the %. This is 5.2% and so 1.4 standard drinks. bfor instance XXXX bitter cans are 375 but 4.4% and only 1.2 standard drinks

    • Arent the cans sold in the US 330ml? I've seen this size before with parallel imports when you can buy cheap cans of coke from Kmart and all the other $2 shops.

      • US 355mL. Europe 330mL

    • European beer bottles are almost always 330ml

  • Is this brew any good?

    • +1

      its outstanding

    • +8

No big hits of malty sweetness or hoppy bitterness. If you like real craft Pale Ales, you'll probably find this a bit bland but if you just want something sessionable, this is quite drinkable and refreshing. Mostly Amarillo hops so a slightly different taste to most Pale Ales. One of the better faux craft beers in my opinion. Each to their own but I'd drink this before any Eurolager, 150 Lashes, Fat Yak, etc. It's made by Asahi.

      • -2

I find it malty.. in a bad way. Reminds me of Aldi Storm (which is terrible).
Much better (independent) pale ales out there. I'd consider most things on your list to be "slightly" better than than this brew.

  • Anyone tried it before?

    • +1

I don't want to. It's faux craft beer

    • +2

It's pretty bad. I use it to keep housemates away from my good craft beers =)

  • +5

Only came here to see Sandpaper jokes.

  • +4

I am here for the cricket commentary.. beer is just ok.

  • +4

It is a good brew, Liquorland sometimes has it for $10 for a 6 pack of bottles when you spend $30+ on other products. It is a decent offer from DM I guess, but DM member specials have really took a turn for the worse over the past year or so. Return and scam in NSW is not helping.

    • the liquorland deal was my baseline …. sometimes their slab price on other beers eg carlton draught or stella is the same as dans, so if dans was $10 for 6 pack it would taste better, but good deal for those that aren't slab buyers and are more into 6 packs as it works out at the slab discounted price.

  • +3

At about the third hour, it starts reversing…

  • +2

At the price range, I reckon the best beer. Pretty tasty and a good strength at 5.2%.

  • try the sly fox instead - $13 for 6 pack

    • -3

The sly fox is lemon AF (friend said 'like a better corona').
Cricketer's Spearhead is a beer with a dreadful malt taste for me.

      They aren't really comparable.

      • Sly fox used to be good. Not sure if quality dropped since coke takeover

        • Most people seem to enjoy sly fox, but it doesn't suit my genetic tastes.

No quality drop from any feral products yet due to coke takeover.

    • Feral make good stuff, but this is flavourless and watery imo.

      • This and the feral smoked are the only two beers in the feral range I don't enjoy. The others are excellent.

  • This beer any good?

    • At this price range it's OK.

  • Sledge: Why are you so fat?
Counter-Sledge: Because every time I f*** your wife she gives me a biscuit.
