    Dont' forget $39.95 for postage.

  • Good price but I could pick up for $20 more at PCDIY.

  • +3

When its $339 at places like MSY & Umart, I would rather pay the extra $20 for local and easy warranty.

Its a shame its not free postage.

    • Pretty sure that if you pay with paypal before 10pm tonight it will be free shipping.

      • Really?

        • +2

Didn't remove postage when in the PayPal confirmation stage .. So i think this is an exception to the offer

Edit: maybe PayPal refunds direct into account at a later date :/

        • Once you go through paypal, it takes you back to CoTD website and the postage is removed. Once you click Pay on the CoTD website you get your paypal invoice that states its only $279.

  • Free Shipping with PayPal

    • Are you sure?? I just tried but it didn’t remove postage when in the PayPal confirmation page

    • Looks like there's around 10 minutes more to go for the free shipping offer:

      • PayPal Free Shipping Terms and Conditions:

        • Only when you pay with PayPal on orders of $50 and over.
        • Applicable for all items purchase on CatchOfTheDay.com.au, does not include Scoopon.com.au.
        • Starts 26th December 12pm AEDST, ends 29th December 10pm AESDT.
        • Maximum of $50 worth of free shipping per order.
        • Limited to one free shipping transaction per paypal account
      • Hmm, I just tried this but it didn’t remove postage when in the PayPal confirmation page

        • +2

So this offer is probably not intended for the free shipping promotion.

It's a shame though, $40 savings is quite significant.

        • It was free shipping, you have to hit Pay Now on the paypal page and it takes you back to CoTD where the shipping is then removed. You THEN get charged from the CoTD page.

      • what do you have to do to get the redemption?

        • I'm not sure??? I will buy it for $279 delivered but not if I have to pay shipping so I may have to let this pass.

  • I just went Through the checkout and ticked paypal, no free shipping.

Been Looking at these for a while now but they seem slightly oldskool.

Been Hooking up the old amp and speakers ever since i've had a PC.

I'll be Sticking with my Bullet proof 1000W Cabbasse Clipper 2 speakers and The Trusty Technics Su-z550 forever.

I waited a long time for these to drop in price that I lost interest. I'm surprised that such an old system is still selling for this much but they are still a good system.
Seen them for similar price on this site over the past few months but I probably won't bite until they get under $200, if they ever do.

    • +3

+1 - over waiting on these now.

What ever happened to the replacement model that was talked about years ago?

      • Yeah, agreed. I have been hanging out for the so called replacement model but it never seems to come out.

What are the alternatives to these speakers?? Do any alternatives support the new HD audio?

  • $300 with free shipping would be good, as having dealt with COTD faulty products the shipping up front is an instant open wound to the unsuspecting customer who would have to wear this both ways (ouch!) when it needs returning.

  • +1

Logitechshop on ebay have these for $335 delivered, so really only a $15 saving, no need to hurry in case it runs out.

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Logitech-Z-5500-Digital-5-1-Speaker-S…

  • fluidtek had it for 259

    • Yea, and a lot of people didn't get it, because there is only one store in the country, and they don't do shipping yet. Fluidtek usually has the cheapest price, but only available to those who can get to the store, which isn't many to the amount of people that go on ozbargain.

  • Try SWANS T200, $799 in AUS, $400 in CHINA

otherwise try EDIFIER s2000v (ebay $199) , which is downgrade from s2000

  • No pickup option?
Checked and said No on help area…but can someone email em because they did mention Daily Deal shop,…..do they sell these…pickup

    • +2

Pickup is not an option. Just like failure. And pain.

      • 64 Cochranes Rd, Moorabbin, Victoria 3189, knock on their door for a set of speakers.

        • Do you mean this place is selling the Z5500 for $279 pickup?

  • +2

to get free shipping click "pay now" when you're at paypal checkout and you will get taken back to cotd to finalize, with zero shipping

  • +1

i just bought these, it says shipping is within 10 working days.

for free shipping, just click "pay now" in the paypal checkout, and yu will be re directed to a new checkout screen (minus the shipping fee).

Trust me, i just did it, and it works perfect.

    • That was tense… it looks as though when you click the Pay Now button that you're actually confirming your order, but it does as you said. Thanks!

    • I BET YOU'RE NOT GONNA GET IT WITHIN 2 WEEKS!

      • Why do you say that?

      • Because I am still waiting for my mystery laser printer that was order like 2 weeks ago.

        • who said what here?

  • Looked good until I saw the 505W was specified at a massive 10% distortion.
My old Yamaha quotes 0.04% THD.

What RMS power can the Logitech really produce? ie without head-splitting harmonic distortion?

  • Man should I get this. Live in Melbourne but just aren't sure.

    • its a great set of speakers, but don't buy it from COTD.

      • bad past purchase?

  • Looks like they've updated the price to include shipping even when going through paypal.

  • Good price, but in case of warranty, postage back will be huge. Better of getting from a local store for few more dollars.

  • Picked the last one up from MSY Pascoe Vale today for $339, more available at other stores.

$20 bucks more, but didnt have to deal with COTD, and their terrible rep.

HN said they could do it for $550 and not a cent less.

    http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=5772

EDIT: Oh and forgot to mention - THIS THING ROCKS!!

    • The best my local HN would do was $420

where is the mythical Z905 damnit!!

  • +2

Catch of day customer service is crap. you can buy whatever you want from them but if the item is faulty then you are in deep shit. you will find yourself talking to their robots who will send same template reply everytime. There is no number to call on the website and you will find it will take them more than 3 months give the bloody refund after you have returned the item.
I would rather buy from MSY and if there is a problem with the item you can get a refund straight away.

Catch of the day = highly not recommended

  • The bass on the sub is terribly low quality boom. It's like it can only play a single note, like those idiot P plater drivers and their 4x 15" subs.
For this price, there isn't anything else on the market, except the Edifier 5xx series.

    • I disagree, you must have a poor quality input like a 96k Mp3 or something. A CD or a DTS movie through the PS3's optical output makes a fantastic noise. I have heard $1000+ systems that cannot compare to this setup.

My ipod when plugged in does not sound anywhere near as good, but is still perfectly acceptable.

      • I'm not sure what $1000 systems you are listening to that don't sound better than this. Perhaps those standard Sony or other 'home entertainment' systems that you get free with a TV.
A 5" set of bookshelves and a sub + amp combo would kill this any day.

But like I said, for this price, it's hard to beat.

        • +1

Post up any 5 X Bookshelf speakers, Amp & Sub Combo for $1000 then ;)

A simple 8" Sub from any HiFi Store (even JB) will set you back $400 (any less and it will not be anywhere near the Logitech one I promise)

An amp that is rated for 5 X 50 w RMS will set you back another $400 (maybe 300 if you buy a cheapy)

I would like to see 5X bookshelf speakers that can match for the rest of the budget.

I looked long and hard and have browsed setups in Sony Central, 2 X JB stores, Myer and Harvey Norman and would have to spend >1500 to get anything that will sound as good as this when using it set up and adjusted properly with optical in, Blu Ray input DTS 5.1 Surround.

In Fact this thing caught my attention in my local HN when I entered the store, some kids were being cheeky and turned it up when I was across the other side of the store looking at other stuff and I had to know what it was that was making that sort of noise, and was blown away that it was this set of speakers IN THE PC/IPOD SECTION LOL

They are not just loud, but they sound fantastic IMO… just google some of the reviews, you will be hard pressed to find a bad review.

  • $39.95 for postage.
$39.95 for pastage again if the speakers broke down
    $279 for the speakers

Overall is $358.9. I would say this is not a good deal. Just go to MSY guys, they offer the best price and their warranty service is perfect.

PLEASE DON'T GO TO CPL NO MATTER HOW CHEAP THE PRICE IS. THEIR WARRANTY SERVICE IS THE WORSE, IT TOOK ME 6 MONTHS TO GET MY REFUNDS BACK.
