[Pre Order] Logitech MX Master 4 Wireless Mouse (Graphite) $197 + Delivery ($0 to Metro/ OnePass/ C&C) @ Officeworks

115

I've been waiting for the next line of the MX Master series to come out. It doesn't officially state it's a preorder, however most stores have it listed as unavailable for in-store pickup right now but also have a future delivered to store or delivery date. Estimated availability from 20 Oct.

Compatible with both Windows and macOS. Connects through Bluetooth or a (supplied) USB-C receiver.

They all have different dates listed for delivery/pickup, so please check each one carefully.

edit 1: you can apparently ask JB Hi-Fi for a better deal, someone in the comments got it for $184.77 - thanks @fooziefoozie

edit 2: I'm sorry to everyone, this isn't necessarily a 'deal' but a new product listing mostly to get the MX Master 4 product tag created, and I have otherwise seen others posting 'pre orders' at full price many times with much better reception. If moderators feel the need to remove this, please do so.

    Finally!
I'm on Logitech MX Mater 1\2\3 for about 10 years

    • +3

Did your old Mater fall apart?
      https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ThnxtgDNkeo

      • I’m on the OG Master and the app switcher button near the base broke. I had to rip off the rubber on both my MX Master and MX Master 2S otherwise the pointer wouldn’t move.

Other than that, no issues. Hopefully the four doesn’t have this issue.

      • My Master 1 had terrible rubber degradation.

Then my G604 had it too.

My G502 lightspeed has started to get it also but I got model specific grip tape for it from Aliexpress and it's stopped the issue. The grip tape has held up fantastic after a few years. I ended up getting some for the G604 and it's been great for that too.

It's a shame Logitech hasn't addressed this issue in over a decade. I guess it's because they want to sell more mice, and having them fall apart after the warranty expires is good for business.

        • Planned obsolescence.

      • my daughter still uses my old master 2

    • Were they the Aussie editions?

    • I still have my MX Revolution, its now retired, the 2 was horrible, the 3s is fantastic, don't think ill get the 4 till this one dies.

  • +29

How is this possibly worth $200.

    • it's like flying business class - if you can afford it you won't go economy ever

      • Agreed… I love the feel and the auto-switching scroll wheel. I can't go back to a normal mouse now.

      • +5

I've got an MX Master 2S and 3S (home and work) - I paid under 90 each. Can't see a world this is worth twice that.

        • +1

This is a brand-new release. The MX Master 3S was posted as a deal here for $162.50 when it was a new release. $197 from a normal retail store like JB and OW with 3 years of inflation added is not bad for a brand-new release.

Of course I wouldn't buy it myself at this price, but you have to compare apples with apples.

          • +1

@eug: But how is it a deal? It's $3 off RRP at best?

    • Well, the Logitech MX Master 1 was like $160 10+ years ago. How much has your house price gone up since then?

      • +1

My house is not that much more expensive than a slightly older house. MX Master 3 is around half that price:
        https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BGPV5BTN

It might be normal for a new release, but it's not a deal.

I consider this to be just like the Aeron chair. Both are insanely great products that deliver huge ROI for someone working from home all day. As well, they can be used for years and years.

And the same reason why I think it is worth it to not cheap out on a mobile phone.

All of these products are used for hours and hours and hours every single day.

If you want to cut costs, do it elsewhere. Just my 2 cents.

edit: As for the guy comparing this to business class, I disagree. Business class a rip off. You only get value for a few hours.

      • edit: As for the guy comparing this to business class, I disagree. Business class a rip off. You only get value for a few hours.

I think "worth" is very subjective.

If you're flying back from overseas and going straight into a meeting at work, being able to wait in a lounge and get some work done and have a decent sleep on a lie-flat bed overnight, it could be worth it.

Or if you have back issues and sitting in a chair for 10 hours will cause a lot of pain, it could be worth it too.

If you're 23 and flying to Bali for a week of drinking, maybe not. :)

Worth is also very relative. A student on no income might think a $100 mouse is absolutely ridiculous and not worth it. When they start a full time job and earn a decent income, a $100 mouse suddenly becomes an easy purchase. Then they make partner in their firm and suddenly a $10,000 business class return flight is as expensive as a $100 mouse was, so it becomes worth it then.

I actually asked JB Hifi for a deal and they were happy to give it to me for $184.77. Looking forward to getting the item.

    • How?

      • Ask.

      • I just went to their chat and ask for a deal. I always do this before buying anything full price from JB hifi. They are happy to give a better deal

    • cheers for the tip! and thanks OP, have been waiting on this mouse for ages.

  • +10

How is this one a deal, save $3 from logitech?
It might be a preorder but I don't think that this is an item that sells out the moment that it releases, especially at $200, that's quite pricey.

    • +1

Gift cards, onepass 5x points, a bunch of reasons why someone might prefer one retailer over another.

    • Doesn't even matter if it sells out at launch.

    • +5

Seriously, basically everything at Officeworks is priced a few dollars below RRP. Are we going to post an Officeworks link to every new launch..

  • So what is the saving? $2….

  • +21

Seems more like a FYI forum post, not a deal

    • -2

I think it was deleted from the forums due to lack of interest…

  • Finally got rid of that disintegrating rubber BS (well, most of it). I wrapped my 3S, to help avoid the rubber - hopefully it holds up long enough for me to pick up a 4 / 4s for <$100! Lol

(I'm still using my MX Master 1, even with disintegrated rubber, so the 3S should last a while yet!)

  • +3

    whats the deal

  • +3

I suppose they have to sell a few at $200 to the few so they can sell lots at $100 50% off to the many.

  • Love the previous gens and probably will buy the MX4. However don't think it's a deal and I certainly wouldn't pay $200 for it. I think I paid $80 for MX3.

  • Seiously a $200 mouse?? My $70 MX2S from yong ago is still working fine. Most retailers will sell at $150 and call it a 25% discount.

  • I hope we get the EU "right to repair" version (as pictured in OW's listing). The screws on that version aren't hidden behind rubbers for easy access.

    • +2

Problem is finding parts. My MX 3 it's the casing that disintegrates, hard to find a affordable replacement shell that doesn't make you think twice and just getting new mouse would be better.

Wasn't as hard to find the teflon feet and replace.

      • +2

You can get grip tape that goes over the disintegrating rubber from Aliexpress quite cheap: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006969106857.html

It saved a few of my Logitech mice. That and having to solder in new switches to fix the double click issue.

        • I have that currently, still doesn't feel great and looks tacky. Read a comment down that they 3D printed a new shell.

Looked up and found a model online for the MX3, put in an order to jlc3dp for 4 to be resin printed, in total $20 AUD delivered with a new user coupon. Will see how it plays out.

  • +1

200 for a mouse. My hand can not afford it

  • +1

and how is pre-order a bargain?

  • Is it finally hard plastic? Or is it still that horrible rubber?

    • A silicone kind of material, I believe

  • +3

What a rip off. Ill stick with my sub $100 MX Master 3S.

  • Is it a mind reading mouse to warrant the hefty price tag?

  • +1

Will be sub $150 in 6 months. Then all the Logitech MX Master 3s will be below $90. I promise.

  • Is there something wrong with either of the Master 3S mice I have? No
Am I still going to buy one of these bloody things just because its the new one? Yes….
At least ozbargain saves me money in other ways

  • -3

$200 for a flagship productivity mouse is cheap these days.

a flagship gaming GPU costs 4k remember?

  • is this quite or I have to wait for the S model again?

  • +5

Unless MX Master 4 get rid of the rubber coating, it's not worth it.

I replaced my MX Master 3S with 3D-printed nylon top shell and buttons with textured surface. Amazing. Such design should be official.

Also - charging cable not included

    • $200 for a mouse you cant charge, wtaf

      • if you dont have at least once USB-C cable on your desk at all times in 2025, WTAF.

    • +2

I'm personally glad they don't include a charging cable. I have so many Type C cables already, it's just going to go straight into my cable box filled with unused cables anyway.

      • I agree. Premium cables are so cheap that these included cables just become unused landfill. I used to donate them unused to the local charity shop, but they won't take them anymore as they can't give them away.

        • yet people goto jb hifi and buy them everday for $20+ each

  • +4

    Where is the deal?
Master 3S can be had for $100 on Amazon atm.

  • Swap device button is still on the underside of the mouse - my only problem with the 3 / 3s!

  • Pretty happy with the 3S which I picked up for less than 100 in one of the sales earlier.

And I don't see a compelling enough reason for the 4 to shell out ~200

  • -2

Is this the model with improved stain resistance ?

    • Try washing the chip flavouring off your hands first

  • What's the difference between this and the 3S?

    • Slightly different profile, haptic stuff, different colour options available, otherwise same sensor and battery life

    • +2

      Price.

  • +1

Not sure if this is a "deal", MX Master 3S is 50% less than Master 4 …

YMMV but determine if it's worth paying double the price? I have the Master 3S and will stick with that, even if it fails and I need a replacement as these benefits or enhancements IMO are not that great… if the battery tech changed and offered a significantly longer life then I would consider it more …

The main differences are the MX Master 4's new Actions Ring button for quick-access app-specific shortcuts, improved haptic feedback, more eco-friendly materials, and a more robust, less rubbery design with even quieter clicks than the MX Master 3S. While the Master 4 retains the comfortable shape and core features of the previous models, it adds significant productivity enhancements and focuses on sustainability.

    MX Master 4 Enhancements:
    Actions Ring:
A new button on the thumb rest that activates a digital overlay of app-specific shortcuts or customizable options, improving workflow speed.
    Haptic Feedback:
The mouse now provides subtle tactile feedback to your thumb for certain actions, like when an image aligns with a guideline in Photoshop.
    Eco-Friendly Design:
Features a higher percentage of post-consumer recycled plastics, a low-carbon aluminum thumbwheel, and a battery with 100% recycled cobalt.
    Quieter & Enhanced Clicks:
The left and right-click buttons offer the same satisfying feel but with approximately 90% less noise compared to the MX Master 3S.
    Refined Materials and Feel:
The mouse has a more structured, less rubbery surface with reduced rubber material, and a slightly more durable finish.
    Slightly Larger & Heavier:
The overall dimensions and weight are marginally increased, although the ergonomic shape remains largely the same.

Key Similarities with MX Master 3 (and 3S):
Comfortable Shape: The classic MX Master ergonomic shape is largely preserved.
Scroll & Thumb Wheels: Both the main MagSpeed scroll wheel and the horizontal thumb wheel are carried over and remain excellent for productivity.
Logi Options+ Software: You can still customize buttons, tracking speed, and app-specific presets using the Logi Options+ software, which also supports the new Actions Ring.
Multi-Device Connectivity: The ability to connect to and switch between multiple devices (typically three) is maintained.
High DPI Sensor: Both models utilize a high DPI sensor for excellent precision.
    When to Upgrade:
    * If you heavily rely on workflows where on-screen shortcuts and quick-access options can save significant time, the new Actions Ring is a major productivity boost.
    * If you're passionate about sustainability and want a mouse made with more recycled and lower-carbon materials, the MX Master 4 is a significant step forward.
    * If you desire an even quieter clicking experience or prefer the new structured, less rubbery surface feel, the MX Master 4 offers improvements

  • Will be waiting on this until sub $150 for sure. If the 3S is anything to go by it shouldn't take more than a month https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/722937

  • Id rather them bring back the side-clicking scroll wheel from the MX 1 so i can map it to left/right through tabs like I did on my MX master 1 than any of the BS new features.

regardless we get MX 3S at work as part of our kit so i wont be buying one of these.

  • Im often a defender of some of these posts - but really? get a current one on sale surely.

  • why is this a deal? RRP $200 when the MX 3 is $100 often

    This isnt OZnewproductrelease

  • Is it worth the upgrade from M720?
