Logitech MX Master 3s Performance Wireless Mouse (Graphite) $126 + Delivery (Free C&C) @ Umart

820

My current Mx Master 3 is having a double-clicking issue so went online to search for an upgrade.

This is the upgrade version and cheaper than some of the Mx Master 3 online.

No price match with OW unfortunately as they are not selling it yet. I do get a price match with JB and use the Ultimate Home card (10% off discount) making it $113.4 eventually.

    Great mouse!

  • Well done on the price 👏, these things are getting big price spikes with each iteration

You reckon the Master 3 will get down to $80?

  • -1

Doubt they would have used better switches in the Master 3S, so just be prepared to experience the double clicking issue again.

The really old Logitech mice such as the MX Performance (M950) used such good switches that they didn't have double click issues. Mine is still going good since 2010, the only reason I am replacing it is because the rubber thumb rest area is now all worn through and the zoom button is sticking out badly like a hard nipple.

    • It might be a different experience as the switches are "quieter" now, so a bumper or something to cushion the click of the switch might actually fix that issue. Although I've never experienced it on either of my MX Master 3 mice that I've had for 3-3.5 years.

    • My Master 3S was bought at the beginning of 2020 and the issue is very slight actually (but still exists and I don't like it).

      • +2

How did you buy a Master 3S in 2020 when it came out in 2022?

        • +1

          Sorry it's a typo, it's MX Master 3 (withnot s)

    • +4

I just replaced the eneloop in my Performance MX mouse. I'll get another 10yrs out of this thing at this rate.

      • Never knew there was even a performance model of the 3S? Didn't it just come out?

        What's the difference.

        • +1

Performance MX does not equal 3S.

my mouse is over 6yrs old.

    • Doubt they would have used better switches in the Master 3S

The 3S is the "quiet" model, and they're using Kailh's instead of the apparently dreaded Chinese Omrons. (I feel any switch would fail given enough time and moba, they somewhat easy to fix if you are confident enough with an iron.)

    • +1

No idea what the double clicking issue is. Used by MX3 daily since it came out.

I'm a huge fan of the Anywhere and Master series, I've had many models but this upgrade is a hard sell as it seems like it brings minimal improvements - unlike the upgrade from 2 to 3.

    • My old MX Revo (the precursor to the MX Masters) got the double click issue and I put new switches in it twice before the MX Master came out and I didn't have to fix it anymore.

    More expensive on NSW stores?

    Some said $159 C&C

    • Same in QLD

    • Same for SA

    • $126 in both WA stores, and also in 2 QLD stores - Mansfield and Milton.
      $159 everywhere else.
WA gets a raw deal on postage quite often, so happy to let them have this one, and call it even ;-)

How can I change store if I want to C&C at that store to avoid postage.

        • Ah nvm, I can’t read

def the best most reliable great feel mouse.( i've tried other brands and they don't cut it.. trust me i have thanks to ozbargain.)
i bought this just to replace the RAZER. (real crap battery. need to be charged every few days)

best thing works on my glass table… amazing.
*just ordered $134 delivered to vic.

  • I feel the 'quiet' clicking is a bit of a downgrade from the regular 'click' of the MX master 3 (not s), anyone else have both and can comment?

    • Don't have both but I have the regular master 3 and swapped the stock switches with Kailh silent. To me, the clicky sound does contribute to the tactile feel. I do love the silent switches, less distracting when working.

  • USB-C, the way all things should be. I own this mouse for work. It's nice.

  • +4

Downside is this uses the newer Logitech Bolt which isn't backward compatible.
(Also Logitech really should have made the receiver USB C).

    • What does this mean, and how does this particular feature compare to the 3?

      • +3

The 3S comes with newer Bolt receiver not compatible with the established Unify receiver. It only matters if you also use a Logitech keyboard on the Unify receiver, you need both plugged in, not an issue on desktops, but you may not have spare ports on the laptop.

Also, if you have spare Unify receivers, thinking to plug them into other devices to share the 3S, they won't work, you need to buy extra Bolt receivers.

It's sort of a niche use case, but do matter to some users.

        • They work with BT (although I find that they're less reliable on BT).

    • +1

I'm actually waiting for the MX Mechanical Clicky to become available, but will have to also get the 3S because of Bolt compatibility.

    • +1

This is the most frustrating thing. Using an MX keys now I have to use 2 receivers.

    • Can you tell the difference with tracking on the Bolt?

    • Glad I read the comments, I've been waiting on the 3S to become available so I can get it with the MX Keys.
Guess I'll go back to the drawing board. :(

  • Ergonomically ,how is this compared to MX Vertical Mouse.

    • +1

If you can get to a JB Hi Fi or Officeworks they should have models you can try out. Colleagues have said using a vertical mouse is a lot better for them, but I personally can't get used to it. I will always gravitate towards the MX Master because of the thumb wheel

    • This one is more horizontal than the MX Vertical Mouse. I like horizontal, so I can't use a vertical mouse.

    • imo you really have to try a vertical mouse. its not for everyone.

that said, not hard to rotate your hand clockwise 90deg and get an idea on how it might feel.

    • I prefer my MX vertical. It somewhat has a similar feel as using a glass of water as your mouse. There is no particular grip that you need to hold on to (I like to grip my mouse using only 3 fingers)

  • -3

Convince me to get this over the 3 and vice versa?

Also, do we think the 3 will go down to sub-100?

    • +7

      It has an S.

    • It comes in white

  • +5

Great thanks, managed to live chat with JB rep and price matched. Took additional 2 years replacement warranty for $18 and they even dropped the price further to $120. $138 total.

    • they even dropped the price further to $120. $138 total.

      Can you C&C?

      • +1

Yes, I did Toll delivery for $5.99

    • I'm on live chat now and they're refusing to match

      • +1

Try with another operator. Same as with Officeworks, some retail staff can be a little hesitant.

        • +2

Was successful in price matching also.

    • +1

      I get it with 136.06 with two-year extra-care.

  • Be aware that there may be incompatibilities between Logitech MX products and Apple AirPods. The issue is related to a high amount of radio interference caused by the Logitech products.

    See here… https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31939424

    • This is a very annoying issue but as mentioned you can use a logitech receiver to get around it.

I get cutting out on my headphones and laggy mouse cursor if I have my mouse on BT (MX anywhere 2, so i have 1 connection setup for receiver, one for BT on my laptop, one for BT on my work laptop) usually dont need headphones when i am away from the desk where the receiver is, and if i do i have a cable for them.

    • Use the included receiver, the protocol is more reliable than Bluetooth and works from boot, unless your device does not have a spare USB port.

      • Frustratingly, I don't believe an adapter Logitech Unifying, nor Logitech Bolt exists in a USB-C form factor

For users who are deep in the Apple ecosystem (Macbooks) and are perhaps more likely to own AirPods, many of the newer devices only have USB-C ports, and not USB-A. This means having to use another USB-C to USB-A dongle/adapter which makes it a pretty sad experience.

Very happy with my $35 kmart gaming wireless mouse, I don't use it for gaming though

  • off topic but the mx keys has $1 discount at umart.. surely they can do better than that

  • Hey off topic but anyone knows a good deal for Logitech 915 Tactile keyboard?

  • To save you some cash. Install the Logitech software, install any updates and then restore mouse to default.
Should fix the double clicking issue

  • -3

Is this better than the J Burrows $4 Wireless Mouse?

  • Is it worth upgrading if you already have mx master 2/3? How big is the upgrade from 4000 to 8000 dpi tracking?

    • +2

I'll be upgrading soon just for the "silent clicking".

    • +2

Still have the original mx master

      • They last forever. Testament to the build quality.

        • The first gen a little too big for me.

  • Amazon trying to charge $257 for this mouce! Are we sure this isn't price error for the 3 only? Not 3s.

  • +1

Still no onboard memory, so a total non-option for locked-down corporate environments! This would be perfect if not for that key omission.

    • -1

Memory? For a mouse? What on earth for?

I use my MX3 in my very-locked-down organisation without an issue. You don't need to install anything and you certainly don't need memory in the mouse.

      • +1

Sure, I'm happy for you that it works for your use case, gadgetguy.

        Other use cases exist.

        • A simple example is remapping the mouse right-tilt to Ctrl-Tab and left-tilt to Ctrl-Shift-Tab, to go next and previous tab very easily. Not just browsers, but IDEs as well. Once you've had this, you realise how inefficient it can be to go without.
        • Another one specific to this mouse would be to bind the the thumb mouse wheel. Since the horizontal scroll is not very common, it's not standardised across applications, so that customisability is key.

Both require Logitech Options on this mouse.

      • +3

It's interesting that you are a "gadget guy" and you don't know why someone would want onboard memory for a mouse. It can be handy to have mouse settings stored locally on the mouse so if you use the mouse on multiple devices, the settings would stick and you don't need to rely on the mouse software on each of the devices.

I am fortunate that even though my work laptop is locked down, work has approved Logitech Options to be installed (guessing many others are using Logitech products), otherwise, the default horizontal scroll behaviour would have annoyed me if I can't change it. The behaviour is actually opposite to what I normally think it would behave.

    OzBargained :( OOS

  • +2

Damn, missed it - at 9am today I opened ozbargain and amazon just to check if these had come down in price yet. I wonder if the MX Master 3s is beginning to appear around $130 finally, will that mean the MX Master 3 will begin to appear under $100 (as the previous '2' version still does)

  • +3

not pricing error - just got auspost confirmation and ordered dispatched. says 16th sept.
for THIS I give Umart a thumbs up.

  • Damn, OOS when trying to grab the 2nd one! Should have ordered 2!

  • Thx OP. Got JB to price match before it went OOS. Pick up tmr.

  • More stock found on eBay or online shop, hope the price will come down more, don't need one urgently.

  • Thanks, OP - mine arrived today and so far a worthwhile upgrade to my 2S.

  • +1

Back in stock but not the same price.

    • about ten bucks down though.. hopefully they're on their way down gradually, till they reach the previous model's standard price

Thank you for posting a link. You could perhaps be a little more polite about it though.. I did check the only similar places I could find, ie https://www.productreview.com.au/ and https://au.trustpilot.com/ and neither has any human-generated commentary for this. Meanwhile the site you have provided appears to contain only autogenerated info - I had already looked up the ABN and found the same info, a sole trader working from home is not so unlikely these days. In the meanwhile yes I am going to assume it's not legit

        • -1

Considering the site has barely been operating for a month, did you really expect 'human-generated commentary'?

As they say, if it's too good to be true …
