  • I bought the Xiaomi Air Purifier

May I ask why? Do you live in a particularly polluted area?

    • +1

Not necessarily for pollution - Melbourne can suck for hay fever and asthma sufferers due to pollen

I live in Manila working for AU company, carried the monster purifier from Brisbane in my checked bag. the thing is very big.

I would say it is excellent if you live near busy roads, junctions, freeways especially with trucks and diesel vehicles. Current apartment is above 6 lane junction that is more blocked than unblocked, lots of diesel Jeepneys and the meter will go to 50 PM 2.5 during peak hour traffic which is bad for prolonged periods which here can go from 3pm to 11pm on bad traffic days (6 out 7)

The on board PM2.5 sensor is not that accurate so I have purchased the Xiaomi stand alone meter which you can program into the scenes and control with some accuracy the on-off and rate of filtering (fan speed) based on the level.

Greta piece of kit for the price. get one if you have young children and live near traffic or factories or smokers are in the house.

      • The "2s" version of the purifier has a more accurate laser pm2.5 sensor

  • I brought it for $512 last week from gearbite. Should be receiving it tomorrow, can't wait.

    • Would love to hear what you think of it especially the mopping :)

I have a Gen 1 and love it but being all tiled downstairs think this would be perfect, if it works well.

      • On our tiled floor the roborock starts to slip and it keeps spinning around to try and free itself. It needs a nudge to help it along.
        The kids find it hilarious!

It could be because I sprayed some disinfectant on the floor first as it says to only use water in the reservoir.

  • Not sure why estimated delivery is 1 month form now as the item is located in NSW it says?

I keep looking at these things with interest, but damn they seem to be about twice as expensive at these discounted rates than I feel they should be. This is probably the model I'd get though.

  • Crimzin:
    Oh sorry, I didn't see that it's a pre-order (shipping from 24th April)

    Jklaro - that's a good price from gearbite - they're at $569 now

  • Waiting for a model that understands which rooms to mop and which ones not to. Otherwise I'd need to buy two, and that's not happening

    • I've watched some video reviews and it looks like they just will blindly attempt to mop a rug? Does anyone know if the software supports 'vacuum everywhere, but only mop in this area'.

      • +1

It doesn't. You have to disconnect the mop part physically. Ie: it's useless unless you buy two and set them up with different zones. Hence my comment.

  • Why is the 2nd Gen more expensive then the price when 1st Gen? Atleast drop the price on the 1st Gen then make 2nd Gen ~$350…

    • Why? New features.

This price point is set to provide revenue but also meet a reasonable price for consumers.

Bought one and have used it daily for a month, best thing ever is an understatement. You can schedule it and it will run, I set it just to finish just before I get home from work. It has different suction strength modes for different floor surfaces and it detects it well. Drop detection is really good works out if there are stairs or not and goes right to edge without falling off. The mop function is not great,it leave streaks on the floor. I have whiteish floor tiles so you can kinda see them in the reflection thou i would suggest doing two runs with it your gonna mop. We like in an estate that has alot of construction dust so this has help. Does corners really well it picks everything off. Also dont leave phone chargers around or headphone cables, that sort of thickness. It will suck it all up and get tangle and stop. The app is really responsive compare to Xiaomi light globes which I find annoying. WORTH EVERY CENT.

    • The carpet detection is ok, but it turns off the object detection so it can go over things it normally goes around.
Eg. We have windows that go to the floor with a half inch raised skirting board. With carpet detection on it will climb it and knocking the windows thinking it's another room to explore. With it off it detects this and just goes along the edge of the skirting board.

      • I dont think carpet detection is really required. Still does a stella job with it on. Just turn it on max and just let it suck harder lol

  • what sort of power cable would I require if I was to get one of these? links to example?

  • Also this comes up as $527.20 when I tried it at check out, gotta love the alternate price with the shipping on that also

  • What's the largest change in level that these can handle? e.g. switching between tiles/wooden floors sort of thing, somewhere between 1 and 2cm.
