depends when in the cycle. In Melb (as mentioned above) it's still over $1.40 in most places, which is on par with Coles Express. But normally you're right.

I'm not saying this is entirely not true, but it really depends on your location (and where you are in the cycle).
Your comment is true for me personally but I would find it hard to believe that this applies to all Australians nationwide.
Pretty much everywhere I go in Melbourne, Shell is always around 4-8 cents more expensive than anywhere else..

@illumination: Got this offer last week and went to my nearest coles for 95. The avg price is 146c and their price was 166.9C!!!!!
Not much of a deal here in Sydney, when the local Coles Express went from 127.4 to 152.9 for unleaded 91 overnight.
Even with the 14 cent discount it was barely a deal, as some of the independents were sell for around 1.11 late at night.
Same here, no a deal in the southern side of Brisbane. Coles Express are usually 10c+ more than the other servo in the same area.
Coles petrol stations are a massive rip off. I saw one today that was over 20c a litre more than a 7 eleven station less than 100m down the road. Coles are consistently more expensive. I think they know suckers will always come in and think they've got a good dealio because they have a coupon from their shopping and it makes them feel good.
