Runkeeper Pro for iPhone Free until End of January

1310

Email I got from Runkeeper today:

We know that many of you look at the New Year as a good time to get started with or improve upon your fitness routines. In an effort to encourage more people to get off the couch, and as a show of appreciation to the RunKeeper community for your terrific support for the last two and a half years, we're making the RunKeeper Pro app (usually $9.99 USD) free to download now through the end of January!

This means you can now download RunKeeper Pro from the iPhone App Store for free through the entire month!

We hope that this helps give you or your friends and loved ones some extra motivation to get out there and log your miles or kilometers! Now, what are you waiting for? Go download the app now! Enjoy, and wishing each of you a healthy and prosperous 2011.

  • Nice find! I had been contemplating buying the pro version, and now it is free!

  • cool! been using the lite version for a while!

  • LOL you beat me to it. I have been using this app for a couple of months now. Excellent in terms of tracking your performance. Highly recommended. Even though I paid $12.99 it's woth every cent and now its free.

  • its a battery drainer, or I was too slow to complete the course before the barrery runs out.

    • What was the distance of the course? I completed a 15km run (1 hour 20mins) and had plenty of battery left.

      • You are fast!

My walking 7km for 1 hour and 30 mins drained around 10% battery I think. But it was never noticeable. I'll try tonight and keep an eye out.

        • yep, my 1.5 hours walk with screen off took 11% battery off.

    • I make sure I turn the sreen off when running app to conserve battery power.

  • Thanks

The same applies to the Android version of Runkeeper Pro (available via the Market).

    • Good find. OP should update the title. I stopped jogging lately and needed something like that.

I now need to find a cheap iphone armband (I have a galaxy S). I checked at OW in Milton QLD and they did not have them. I might go around some other OW on my way home.

  • So will the "Pro" services & features be available after January to those who download the app now?

    • Yes- it is just free to 'buy' until the end of Jan.

Great post! I used to use this app on my jail broken iPhone and was seriously contemplating paying for it for the new year!

  • thanks but when i try to download comes up with an unkown purchase error :(

  • Hell Yeah!

From the reviews it's gone down hill (no pun) in recent months, with lots of extra internal charges for features… Still has to be worth a punt for free.

  • This is also free for Android. I just downloaded to give it a try… although I'm already very happy with SportyPal (also free) for tracking my exercise.

  • A really good app!

  • Thanks for that! I just hope it won't drain the battery as much as the free one did :/ Still, would rather find out for $0 than $10

  • Nice one :)

  • sweet!

  • I've been using Runkeep Pro for about a year (on both the iPhone & Android) and couldn't run without it.

It also tracks my bike rides too. Grab it while you can!

  • I've been using the free version to record mountain bike trails on google maps, and to keep stats on road cycling. Great app, I've been contemplating upgrading to pro for a while.

What does the pro version offer over the free version? I still get all the stats etc. via the website..

  • welcome to the crew tcollins, great first post

  • terrific program… bought this about 6 months ago and was worth every penny. for free- its the best bargain you'll find all year (for the 3.5 hours left of it :)).

who's the idiot who gave my above comment a negative vote? what for? i was complimenting the bargain posted… jeez some people have no clue :(. anonymous neg voting at its finest.

      • Just balanced it out for you with a positive.

      • calm down please :)

fyi the user didnt comment on this page.

        • thanks tightbottom :).

no worries here Davo, its just that it's happened a few times recently and it's not pleasant being negatived for each comment made. doesnt really promote active participation of this fine forum ;).

        • mmmm agree, dw i keep a mental note of serial neggers. If there is anything out of the ordinary we will take another look.

If you see something interesting/suspect. Just "report" with "(DAVO)" at the start…

        • +2

lol davo, ur comment for policing negs got negged!

        • ccrap - I disagree with the reasoning behind the neg, but all users are entitled to their opinion :) keeps moderation honest/fair

        • @Davo: No disagreement, no reasoning — just thought I'd punctuate my point that's all ;)

        Perhaps it was art?

Random acts of negging — stupid, yet perfectly within the rights and capabilities of all members five times per day.

So hop to it, neg away and spread ill-will and confusion until it has to be changed to something useful (i.e. no anonymity, or having to provide a reason.)

  • love the first post tcollins, and welcome to ozbargain!

  • I got it for free-Thanks ;)

  • Looks like they're still charging for extra features with Runkeeper Elite or whatever its called.

Still a great app. Have done a few runs with it so far, it's fun to see the GPS tracks.

I've downloaded this for my iPad.

All I need now is an iPad armband so I can go for my jogs with it.

    • Pwned - downloaded it to my 15" MacBook Pro and plan to use via iPhone emulator on SDK with bluetooth gps.

All I need now is a MacBook Pro armband so I can go for my jogs with it.

You could always use it on car trips! I tried it out once on my phone, and measured the distance and range of my daily commute.

      • good idea!

  • i prefer endomondo..

  • I assume this article in today's Age was written in advance or they would have noted that the app is currently free.
