Red Energy - 10000 Bonus Qantas Points on Electricity Signup. 5000 Bonus Qantas Points on Gas Signup (No Gas Bonus for QLD)

160

Just saw this on nine.com.au. Note this deal excludes QLD unfortunately. 1

Basically there are 2 plans Red Energy has. Each plan comes with a 10k signup bonus for power and 5k signup bonus for gas:

Qantas Red Saver

Earn 2 points per dollar spent
Includes pay on time disount of 10%

Qantas Red Plus

Earn 7 points per dollar spent
No pay on time discount

Note: If you select Red Energy’s Qantas Red Plus plan, you agree to forego any existing pay on time discount on your current energy plan from the start of your current billing cycle (this means any energy charges since your last bill will not be discounted) and instead you will receive the 7 Qantas Points per $1 on your Electricity and/or gas bills, when you pay on time.

  1. Offer only available for residential electricity and/or gas customers in NSW, VIC, SA and residential electricity customers in QLD who are on an existing Red Energy plan and have a Qantas Frequent Flyer Membership Number. Qantas Points accruals will commence from the beginning of your current billing cycle (i.e. since your last bill), so may apply retrospectively. Red Energy may withdraw or change this offer at any time. Full terms available at www.redenergy.com.au/qantas-terms-and-conditions for full terms and conditions.

  • Red Energy are still one of the best for low usage households in most areas

  • how's the service and the rate?

I am looking at the rate…seems complicated!!!!!

    checked the review..seems…..

    • Product review is garbage though, see the recent forum topic on Dr. Boom to see the rep in action

  • Only excludes Qld for gas.

"* Offer only available for residential electricity and/or gas customers in NSW, VIC, SA and residential electricity customers in QLD who are on an existing Red Energy plan and have a Qantas Frequent Flyer Membership Number."

So actually it's ACT, NT, Tas. and WA that are excluded?

  • +1

Just added red to my spreadsheet - Qld electricity:
AGL $145.87 (30% off, current provider)
Alinta $148.79 (28% off, churned last month to AGL)
red $162.05 (single tariff - the peak/off peak one was more based on my usage)

yet to find a QFF deal that makes it worth the points - apart from the Macquarie flyer mortgage a few years ago…

    • Is the Red price including the 10% pay on time discount?

      • Yep did the 10% for red…

Sorry I didn't know about the random referral system.

Besides that I have been using RED Energy in Victoria for over 5 years.

I have low usage and find them really good.

Service to property charge is 95.35c/day and usage rate is 20.13c/kWh.

  • Current customer of these guys, but I only get a 3% Pay on Time discount? What gives?

    • You probably signed up through a third party like iselect or something

So if you pay a $100 bill on time it's a choice between 180 QFF points and $90, or 700 points and $100 right?

    • +1

      Yep.

    • +1

No. Qantas points off highest point in bill. So $90 and 200 points. They use the before discount price to calculate points.

      Good if you have solar.

So $100 bill with $50 solar -10% =$45 but you still receive 200 points

  • Does anyone know if they accept Amex or PayPal (via PostBill Pay)?

  • Payment can be made online using a credit card, BPay, PostBill Pay and over the Phone.

    • I agree but do they accept Amex credit card or PayPal?

      • Amex is accepted, not sure about PayPal. Hopefully someone else can confirm as well.

      • They now accept Amex with no extra fees. Inbox me of you'd like more info

  • Tempting, they are slighty cheaper then current provider but wow thats pretty bad product review page.

      What are you worried about?

      • +2

        Poor quality electricity.

        • Canstar award for customer excellence 8 years in a row…Oz owned and operated.
          What's not to like

  • Also excludes WA, ACT, NT, Tasmania?

  • Does this promo stack with the regular $50 referral code?

  • Deal is great for people who have Solar.

    Example.

If usage is 500 and solar credit is 200 for example.
    You're looking at a $500 bill -10% which gets it to $450.
    Then $200 solar credit.
    So $250 total
They calculate points based on highest point of bill… So they give you 2x500= 1000 points even though you only pay $250

  • No discount compared to Energy Australia but 10k points are nice.

    • All that matters at the end of the day is the final cost. Discount % is nonsense

  • I'm looking for a new gas retailer but they won't accept a signup for gas only.

    • Same here :-(
