Any Recommended Microphones to Use on a Budget?

Are there any suggestions for a decent microphone to use on discord/in-game chat? I'm planning on getting an audio technica m30x + a relatively decent and cheap microphone.

I've seen the modmic but it seems a little expensive for what I require. I don't mind desktop mics but I also have a mechanical keyboard with cherry reds which may pickup my keystrokes.

    • I don't really need something of that quality. Would you happen to know anything up to $50? The headphones I'm buying are only $90 so the rode microphone would be double

  • Pyle Pro PDmic58: https://www.amazon.com/Professional-Unidirectional-Microphon…

You will need a mic boom to hold it near your mouth:

    https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Microphone-Suspension-Broadcasting-Voice-Over/dp/B00DY1F2CS/ref=sr_1_3?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1523502849&sr=1-3&keywords=mic+boom&dpID=41i8vnokzKL&preST=SY300_QL70&dpSrc=srch

And a pencil mic shock mount to (stop shock noises such as keyboard noise) which you put the mic in and then attach to the boom:

    https://www.amazon.com/Handheld-Condenser-Microphone-Shockmount-Dynamic/dp/B00E93RQQ0/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1523503689&sr=1-1&keywords=pencil+mic+shock+mount&dpID=51UfZQyKJ3L&preST=SY300_QL70&dpSrc=srch

And a pop filter/wind screen such as this:

OR this (I like the first type better because it takes up much less room and it not fiddly)

And lastly you will need a (female) XLR to 3.5mm TRS adapter (or whatever your soundcard uses to plug a mic into).

You can probably find better prices than these. Also there is a variant of the Neweer mic boom that has an integrated cable that is nicer to have, but you have to carefully check to see (it will have cable at the mic end and the clamp)

    • Do you know anything smaller that takes up less space? I don't have much space to place everything.

I had a look at the modmic but its a bit expensive for what I need. I also was looking at hyperx cloud but more people recommended to get headphones + a mic instead

  • You could try Lavalier mics, used in television, when not utilising overhead boom mics.

Cheers! Looks like something that could work well

    Try this

Clips along the cable on your existing headset. Super cheap, and pretty damn good for what you're paying. I have one myself, but haven't used it in a while

These have been around for an extremely long time (probably over a decade by now), so there's plenty of reviews on it out there.

If you wanna take it one step further in the budget route, you buy a mic and headphone splitter cable from ebay, and plug it into your phone's headset (or any headphones) with a mic
