[STEAM] Divinity: Original Sin 2 $38.24 USD (~ $51 AUD)

120

I have been eyeing on this for a while as its sale is few and far in between.
According to Steam price chart https://steamcommunity.com/linkfilter/?url=https://istherean… this is the most it has been discounted since release at 15%.

Highly recommended if you like turn based combat with deep story that is affected by decisions you make.
Graphics are amazing too.

  • I bought this when it first came out and had high expectations because I like turn based strategy games. Unfortunately I hated it. I really disliked the generic nature of the main characters and the voice acting is absolutely terrible. Inventory issues within 5 minutes of playing and the graphics were pretty ordinary imo. Can't understand why it is so highly rated.

    • What do you mean generic character? Did you create your own character or used the pre-scripted characters?

      • Pretty much that each of the main characters can be any class and you have to pick them up as your companions. As such they had no individuality I found. I used pre-scripted.

The game's more for people who like dungeon and dragons and other tabletop RPGs in my opinion and it's better (imo) if played in coop multiplayer with friends. For me the narrative choices you're given and the way the game mediates between players who disagree with what to do really captures the feeling of sitting around a table playing pathfinder.

I played the first one and it was great fun running around the town with a friend trying to solve a mystery while also keeping her from stealing everything she could.

I backed this game during its kickstarter as I loved Divinity: Original Sin and I don't regret doing so at all.

I've done 2 complete playthroughs with 2 different people and am about to embark on a third for a solo run. My total playtime is 250 hours and I loved every second of it.

If you are going to get this game, I recommend getting it with a friend. You will have a blast.

    • Have you tried local coop with controllers?

      • +1

No. I played the original with KB+Mouse so I didn't see the need to try out the controller.

From what I've heard though, the controller support is pretty good. Inventory management can be a bit of an issue though (as it is with a KB+Mouse anyway).
