Good prices for Adelaide. They often cost significantly more

If the opposite is more your thing, keep an eye open for cheap flights to Afghanistan!
I like how you think what I said wasn't serious. Didn't know so many Ozbargainers were well versed with Sri Lankan politics.
Probably didn't even know there was a state of emergency in Sri Lanka up until last month.
I like these Sri Lankan flight deals, keep 'em coming. Although i would've liked to see more direct flights, they're pretty expensive right now.

Was looking at Direct this weekend, only air Sri Lanka from Melb.

Sri Lanka is great. Was in Colombo at the start of the month for a week for work in Colombo.
Was about $900 return from KL via Singapore on Singapore Airlines.
The local ride sharing app is PickMe which is pretty good.
250-300 LKR for the toll to and from the airport.

Uber is also big there. I uber'd everywhere in Colombo. Very cheap.

Honestly I mostly use PickMe to estimate the fare and use the tuks except going to and from the airport.
Tuks were good as long as they turned their meter on! Also, had my family with me so had to go cars most of the time.

Yeah considering the aircraft was lost somewhere over the same ocean this route flies, I would be hesitant. But you know what, if it does crash, and you survive, you can sue the airline for a small fortune.

Personally I avoid them, primarily because I dislike their service.

Malaysian Airlines service is pretty ordinary, but Sri Lanka is a great destination. The western monsoon (Colombo is on the west coast) comes between May and September, and is probably part of the reason for the cheap price. It’s still quite holiday’able, but dry season is better. You could avoid the monsoon by landing in Colombo, then spending most of your time towards the east side of Sri Lanka. We’ve been twice, first covering west, north (Jaffna), south and central, the second east, north and central. Fantastic rail journeys (tunnels, trestle bridges, etc), great historical sites, food, friendly people, wildlife, scenery, etc.
