I normally grab these from Amazon.com:
    https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-UHS-I-Memory-SDSDXXG-…

Currently, price comes in at USD $41.83 / AUD $55.94
    But, I guess if you’re in a hurry…

Bought one last week for that price from Amazon too. Gawked when I saw JB hi-fi was selling for 150 jeepers

      • I can get the 128gb for under 150 at many places online.

      • Amazon US always has good prices on memory cards.
Personally, too afraid to buy cards from Amazon US.
Got a lemon last time and the return processes its too much trouble.
Why Amazon.AU couldn't have amazing prices like the US??

Nevertheless, is still a good price.

        • I never had issues but I totally get it. Probably a one off

These Amazon ones are the faster U3 ones too.

    Only 64GB?

  • Was $149? Lol. Anyway, these are $48 at MSY.

Only available in Tasmania and stock is limited.

      • Ah, good point. Didn't even check that. I see they're EOL.

i dont believe its fast enough for 4k recording.

    • +1

I believe it is; however the problem is that some cameras are pre-selecting for the newer spec U3 up front and refuse to record 4k unless that type of card is detected even though it may be slower.

This card was the fastest card on the market for a long time.

check with your camera but I think most are not pre-selecting like this.

      • Works fine for 4k, no issues at all.
I'm using panasonic lumix G85 and have changed no settings since unboxing it other than moving the dials to record in 4k
(I have the 128gb version of this card)

        • The G85 manual recommends using U3 card for 4K recording

        • @Frankly Frankie: The G85 does 4K at 100Mbps (12.5MB/s) so will require a U3 card for 4K recording.
Devices like the Galaxy S9 does 4K60 recording with H.265 at 42Mbps (5.25MB/s) so will work fine with a Class 10/U1 card.

        • @Frankly Frankie: I'm late, but thats my mistake, when I originally commented the displayed pic was u3 lol

      • Memory card companies would like everyone to believe that you must have the most expensive cards to record in 4K. In reality, it's not the resolution that determines what speed card you need, it's the encoding bitrate.

Consumer 4K devices will typically work fine with cheaper cards as they usually top out at 60-70Mbps which is under 9MB/s.

Higher-end 4K prosumer devices like the Sony A6500/A7 III or Panasonic GH5 can support higher bitrates and as you say, require a U3 card before it'll enable those higher bitrates. Generally if you know enough about cameras to have purchased a high-bitrate camera, you'd probably already know if you really need a more expensive high speed card.

    • It works fine with 4K Video recording. The only problem is the capacity. 64G is nothing for 4K videos.

It's early in the morning, so just a reminder:

    this is SD, not microSD

  • Older version?

  • If you want the 128GB for $85.43
    Its U3 so faster.

  • Guys, this is actually a decent card. Turns out that newer versions just had the label changed from U1 to U3, but the read/write speeds of this are pretty decent: https://www.cameramemoryspeed.com/reviews/sd-cards/sandisk-e…

    • From here
      https://www.slrlounge.com/different-u1-vs-u3-sd-memory-cards…
      "U1 or U3?
The first question is by far and away the most common today, and asks to find the difference between U1 and U3 rated SD cards. What is being asked here is what the difference is between UHS-1 Class 1 and Class 3 cards. In simple terms, UHS-1 Class 1 has a min write speed of 10MB/s, and Class 3 has a min write speed of 30MB/s, and we’re talking also here about increased sustained write speed.
This is a significant difference, and especially critical when recording large amounts of data rapidly, as would be the case recording 4K video."

      • From the link I posted earlier:
“The Extreme Pro 95MB/s UHS-I is the fastest UHS-I SD card offered by SanDisk. Its performance is rated at 95MB/s read and 90MB/s write speed. The card now carries the UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) designation which means it supports continuous write speed of at least 30MB/s for recording 4K video. Older versions of this card are labeled U1; it is essentially the same card, the label was updated to add the new speed class as defined by the SD Association.”

Further, Googling the product code SDSDXPA-064G-Q46 of the original U1 version leads to the Sandisk website where under the ‘product numbers’ section, the code is the exact same as the U3 version: https://www.sandisk.com.au/home/memory-cards/sd-cards/extrem…

So therefore I am inclined to believe they are the same Card, just with updated designation as standards changed.

  • Just grabbed one of the U3 labelled ones from JBHiFi, and they price matched this one.
