Always free? If so not a deal.

Well done, Grasshopper you beat JV.

      • In all seriousness, just wanted to post this since it's a good app and wanted to bring some awareness, but I understand this will probably get shifted to the free section on the forums.

        • Fine then post it in the right section.

Thanks for posting this and keep providing us with information. There are people out there who appreciate the efforts you go to.

Many thanks, I appreciate the feedback and glad you found some of the posts useful!

Yahtzee!! 3 Detective Pikachu front page deals in a row!

    • Aww. Damn you OzNazis… now only 2 Detective Pikachu front page deals in a row. I rescind my Yahtzee :(

  • Freeware???

Can we please have a section where people can recommend something that might not be a "bargain" according to the "bargain police" so that people who are interested can get advantage of the deal without having to listen to the "bargain police" whine about it? I was not aware of this program and think it is worth downloading and looking into, but the "bargain police" have an issue with it not being a bargain. Apparently they are happy when something is hyper inflated so when it is brought town to a more normal price it is considered a bargain, but if it is always a good price then this is not something we would have listed on the site. Arghhhhhh. To me a bargain is when something is good value, not when it has been discounted against the "listed" price of the site.

Not just "Free" stuff - but anything that might be good value. Happy for this to be shunted across to a separate section so it doesn't offend the "bargain police".

        • We'll the so called bargain police just point out the long established rules.

Maybe it should be moved to the OzAnarchyBargain site.

        • @supabrudda: There are plenty of instances where rules are not strictly followed where anarchy does not occur; it happens in society everyday. Rigid societies that follow the letter of the law, rather than the spirit of the law, are the ones that disappear under their own hubris. A bargain is something that is good value, not something that is cheaper than it was. It takes a couple of seconds to scan a headline and see if you want to use it, it takes a lot more time to drill down and complain it isn't a bargain. I much prefer that people feel comfortable to put something up I may want to see, even if it doesn't strictly adhere to the rules.

        • @try2bhelpful:
          move to OzAnarchyBargain

          You'll be happy there

        • @supabrudda: No, I would prefer to remodel OzBargain to a more sensible model. I presume you are part of the mob who say "move to another country then", if people protest issues in their own country". There is always room for improvement in a system.

    • ……………fully agree, no time to go looking at everything on the site, I'm very happy to see worthy items pop up here. The ones that should not be here get super-harsh comments and so are easy to dodge….mods please leave this one here thanks.

And the (annoying) "bargain police" are easily ignored like (most) "grammar nazis" id you use a fraction of your brain.

      • I use all of my brain, which is why I can scan stuff and see if it is something I want to look at or move on relatively quickly without refering to the "rules". If people think that something is not a bargain then ignore it and move on. Let people make up their own mind if they want to look at it further. My problem is that people are put off putting stuff up on the website when they have to deal with the "bargain police".

    • Would you like me to flood the forum with "deals" to awesome free software?

It's not about being "bargain police". It's about making this forum useful to those looking to save money bargain hunting, instead of flooding it wiith other stuff.. This is great stuff but it won't save you money if you know how to google search, and there is a section specifically for always free stuff.

      • Happy for you to highlight free software to your hearts content, I will spend the half second it takes me to figure if I'm interested and then move on if I'm not. I won't spend ages whining about how it isn't a deal. We have both spent WAY more time on going back and forth than me looking at an entire days worth or deals. This is a bargain to some people who may not have been aware this software was out there. If this had always been cheap, rather than free, then I wouldn't know about it because of the "rules". I presume you are not the moderator for this site so I'm not sure why you feel it is your job to police the rules, but you can keep whining and I will keep pointing out to OPs I appreciate deals I'm interested in. I want them to not feel intimitated when they post.

        • You just don't get it. When 20 people each post 5 deals on free software, that's 100 items you have to wade through without saving a cent on any bargain.

There is a place right here on this board for posting exactly what you want to post for people who are interested in it, and your post has in fact been moved there. You accuse me of wasting time and "whining" but in fact you've already wasted my time. And you're being a hypocrite because you're also whining about what I wrote, and if that is a waste of time, well then pot kettle black.

I am not the moderator but I don't want to wade through a ton of stuff i'm not interested in just because you and those like you feel like being anti-social and feel they are above the rules. If you don't like the rules, and you know they're not changing, why are you still here?

    • Nah….

      This is OzBargain

    • I know this doesn't met the Ozbargain definition of a bargain, but it meets mine.

What might be great is bargains classified by expiry date. I'm not alert enough to jump on bargains that don't last long, and I waste a lot of time wading through bargains I've missed.
If we had separate sections: Expired, Expiring Today, Tomorrow etc, then ones like this could go in "Non-expiring".
But sticking it in forums is pretty close to "don't bother posting" and some of us would have missed out.

Still code academy is the best way to learn to code

    • Thanks for the reference, I will look into this.

  • Also still learning from desktop is best for coding as you have mouse and keyboard.

    • I actually found learning by paper, to be the most useful.
