Snyper One Chronograph Men's Watch (Grey Market) - US$1495 + US$88 + GST/Customs (~AU$2063 + GST) @ Gem Nation

40

Massive discount on a Snyper watch. Gemnation are a Grey Market watch shop similar to Ashford and Joma Shop. I've never bought from them but they seem legit and reasonably well regarded on the various watch forums. I suspect you might be caught for GST etc importing this watch. Price is down from $9,705.00 USD so massive discount. My watch budget has been exhausted already so I'm out but maybe somebody out there needs something new to show off at the Yacht club or weekend social drive for the Porsche Club.

I will search under the mattress to see if I have a spare $2000 lying around.

I know that's not much for a Swiss chrono but holy crap is this thing ugly.

  • +1

Wouldn't buy it for $200. Looks hideous. Would rather get a Seiko for 10-15% of the price of this thing. (Swiss or not).

  • not my thing but i kinda think of it as a swiss/mechanical g-shock :)

    Found another bargain:

Sure it's only 72% off but you can't argue with a $52,000 discount

    • my eyes, my eyes…. ;-)

Never heard of this watchmaker. Their website seems to be aiming for a particular market segment. Anyone have experience with them?

    Batman meets SpongeBob, no thanks…

  • this watch is on sale on Oxford St in London for 8,500 GBP !!

  • They couldn't sell it at RRP that's why they had to discount between 70-90% just to sell a few. Just like Invicta watches.

    • +1

Agree with the first part of your statement. Invicta are never sold at RRP anywhere anytime. Invicta's RRPs are a marketing tool to trick people into believing they are getting a bargain. I suspect somebody somewhere at some stage has probably paid full whack for a Snyper watch. Clearly their styling isnt to everyone's tastes and so they are having to discount them to move them on. I still suspect their initial aim was to sell them for full RRP. Nobody anywhere ever paid full RRP for an Invicta.

      • "to trick people into believing they are getting a bargain"

Though having bought one, I'd modify that to " more of a bargain". You do still get an excellent Seiko movement, and in the case of the grand divers at least, an emergency hammer in case you need to quickly knock a piton or two into a rock-face…

  • Or if you have a spare $2.5m, you can buy this beauty (plus $300 shipping of course):

Not sure how many they have in stock though. You'd think they need about 10 in stock at a time to keep up with the orders…..

you would be surprised at how many they sell worldwide. I worked at a place with loads of uber rich people and they all sported these ostentatious watches for no reason other than they could.

Because the ultimate projection of wealth and power is 'Exclusivity'., having that thing nobody else has. This is why people get custom pink Lamborghinis etc. When having something expensive is no longer enough you want something that even your rich friends cant get. A custom coloured Aston Martin, Elvis Presley's guitar or a 1 of a kind hand made swiss watch. This is Nek Level and well beyond the BMW and RM Williams boots stage of wealth projection.

  • limited to 100 pieces ….. hate to guess repair costs if movement needs fixing and the spare parts availability …..
just like people mod invicta to look like other watches, wonder if a g-force could be moded to look like this one.

Looks kinda cool. Most I would pay would be around $500 though. Still not worth it at 2k imo

  • Does this have the ability to stop the time, or something?

    • Yes it is a chronograph so you can time things reasonably accurately using it as a stopwatch.

  • I like it. The crown is a nice touch. I wonder what the movement is based on? Kind of surprised it's only 21’600. I'm sure it wi;ll wear much larger than 43mm, especially with a height of 15mm.

    • It's from concepto which is a fairly new company for movement manufacturing. From what I know it's probably based off the Valjoux 7750. Not bad for the price considering the decoration and the movement. Their movements are seen in Louis Moinet watches which fetch well over $20,000.

      • Probably based on a 7750. But you know how some companies like to decorate the rotor or drop on a module and all of a sudden we an in-house movement.

      I like it.

I wondered later if someone would see that.

  • Looks like they copied the design from the 1155
