  • I had 4 orders cofirmed too all for pickup. $2 earphones!

  • How did all of you get pickup confirmations? Are you stores open today?

  • Got order confirmation then 2 hours later, the cancellation email. It was worth a try…

  • Got confirmation email but order still being cancelled

  • It was a good try, but a big No way Jose from Hardly Normal.
    Thanks to the OP though!!

  • got an order cancellation email too…bugger.

  • I received three emails.

    1. Confirmation of order.

    2. Ready for pickup at store.

    3. 2 hours later - Cancellation (Based on this and in accordance with our terms and Pursuant to clause 5(9) of the Harvey Norman Online Terms and Conditions of Sale (available at www.harveynorman.com.au/terms-and-conditions/), Harvey Norman Online has not accepted your order and would like to arrange a full refund of the payment made by you.)

I've just read the HN terms and conditions and clause 5(9) doesn't exist.

It would seem they accepted my order by having it ready for pickup this afternoon and therefore have a failure to provide the goods in accordance with their own T&C's? Anyone with consumer law background on ozbargain? :-)

    • Nice catch that clause 5(9) doesn't exist :)

      • Just double checked, there is actually two terms and conditions on the website, one for the website itself and one for sales! So it does exist, my error! Basically it says they can cancel it at anytime and do whatever they want.

        • Oh my just reading through the terms and conditions, they do seem very one sided and somewhat unreasonable. You can't cancel an order but they can do so for whatever reason.

          (11) Harvey Norman Online will be deemed to have accepted your Order when your Order is delivered to your specified delivery address or on collection of your Order from a Harvey Norman Store.

Would have thought it was accepted when you had went through your processes and then had it ready for pickup at the store, or the equivalent - shipped out with courier for delivery.

        • @KarlAdarl: Agreed. I think price errors are understandable if you're buying a normally $30 item for $3, say, but I purchased Far Cry 5 for $52. Good deal but I wouldn't consider it outrageous.

But - they advertise 2 hour Click & Collect but didn't make it available for me to pickup. I got a tracking number 2 hours after ordering and a cancellation email 2 hours later. Therefore I couldn't get their 'acceptance' by picking it up. Just sent them an email asking about it.

Big companies write big scary Ts & Cs for this reason. Not going to lose sleep over it but it'd be good to pull one back to the consumer now and again. :)

  • Annnd my 1 dollar headphones are maxy gawn

  • +7

Ordered at 11:30am, confirmation at 12pm and pick up notice at 3pm

Needless to say I went straight away to pick up around 4pm

Got tax invoice emailed at 4:30pm and now an order cancelled notice at 5pm. LOL would be funny if they do automatically refund me in 24-48 hours. Though I suspect once you pick up and a tax invoice is issued, the transaction is complete.

    • Lucky you. All HN stores are closed in qld today

    • You should be nominated as the professional of the week :)

    • Did pretty much the same ordered, received the pick up email and picked up item from store however I did not receive the tax invoice but received the cancellation email later and got refund into my egift card… Now it’s confusing. Not sure what will happen, will it be a free item or will they try to charge me the full price?

    Update:
Managed to pick up 3 Months XBL Gold and Skyrim PS4 from my local store even after cancellation email last night.
Local store was closed yesterday for ANZAC Day

Also, C&C app said my Crash preorder is on back order from the same store - implying it will be fine as well?

  • What is the turn around refund if I payed through Paypal?

  • +1

This is an epic fail by hn

I got a few rejection emails for my orders unsurprisingly.

Now I'm getting other people's message board updates including hundreds of emailaddresses.

So many people are whinging about the cancellation..

    What a disaster

  • Receievd Paypal & HN refund email

  • Bought a Micro SD card and paid via PayPal. Only received an Order Confirmation email, and yet, no refunds and no further communication. Anyone else in the same boat as me?

  • I forgot about this and was just looking at my paypal account. I haven't heard from HN so I've asked for a refund.
