Another deal today for the newly released LG 8 Series 2018 C8 with the new Alpha 9 Processor. Everywhere else the C8 55" is $3400-$4000.

Benefits of the 2018 model over the 2017 B7/C7 Series-

  having an LG TV for about 5 years has really put me off, no software updates, Youtube gone, skype gone, lack of apps. (Heck i cant even get freeview! - or 7/9/10 catchup tv)

  i mean yeah its a few years old, but do i really need to update my TV every few years to keep up with even the basics…? its supposed to be a smart TV…

    Question… what keeps you from reverting to a previous firmware version? Or is that not possible?
    I mean….just for Skype and YouTube and all that?

    Skype for TV was discontinued by Microsoft, not LG.

    NFI why your YouTube app isn't working, try updating your apps?

      nah they ended support for it, can probably go though the web browser but still port form.

      If it's using an os like Android, no as much.. but you'd want a pretty late version as they probably won't update it.

      And no updates mean apps fall off in a few years time… (Eg nothing supports Android 4.0 any more…)

  When this comes down to $2000 I'm in and my C6 can go on ebay. My guess is that there isn't a massive difference but the better motion blur handling and the much brighter HDR is enough for me.
