I don't understand that this brand is very expensive?

It’s a pretty easy concept. You can buy twice as much ice cream for $5, so $7 for less than half a litre is quite expensive.

      It's not even that great.

It’s great when it’s free on airlines, much better dessert alternative to what some airlines give…

        • Seems it's only on CX or KA…any others use them?

Qf only gives out the cheapies now…bulla last time I think…

It's a pretty premium ice cream brand in American grocery stores, along with Ben & Jerry. This is considered slightly more premium than B&J. 'Cold Stone' was the best ice cream that I tried in the US but it was available only in its own retail stores when I lived there a few years back, not sure if they are also selling it in regular grocery stores now. We don't have anything like Cold Stone here unfortunately - 'Cold Rock' here has a similar concept but nowhere close.

    • cos it is yummy + made in france

  • awesome

What does Haagen dazs even mean. Wouldn't touch it

salted caramel for the win !!!

    Thanks OP

  • Tempted to buy as I've never tried it
Given that it is almost three times the price of Connoisseur on special, is it at least twice as good?

    • Given that taste is subjective what is the thinking behind wanting an answer to this question?

      • +1

want to know if it is worth the price
in general I've found connoisseur more expensive than bulla for example, but imo the taste justifies the price for certain flavours

        • Only you can answer that question really. Could be the most awesome ice cream you will ever have in your life or the worst. It's not something that can be answered with objectivity.

        • @Icecold5000:
The salted caramel is awesome. I buy it a few times a year when on special.
Worth buying once to test at least.

I got the strawberry and cream one yesterday, also not bad.

        • @tazmaniak:
Tried that the other day. I want to give strawberry a go before making judgement.

    • It's worth getting,they do have a taster pack

      • taster pack?
        in the shops?

        • yea @coles, i think it was 100gm each.

    • If you care what you're eating yes - check out the ingredient list for each brand as I was shocked….I can't eat Connoisseur anymore because of the crap they put in it!

  • Tried it couple times, quality not bad (to me at least) but it doesn't worth 2-3 times the price of Connoisseur.

    • +1

strawberry and cream is a lot better than connoisseur's
      chocolate is similar thou

Bugger. The diet now starts next week.

  • ignoring….ozbargain makes you fat

…in fact can we just ban all ice cream deals from now on? theyre not doing anyone any favours… :D

    • +2

      Megalo, megalo, megalo waistline.

  • so sad that 7-11 exclusive green tea flavour never go on special :(

  • +2

Clearly nobody on ozbargain yet considers what they put in their body beyond: ice-cream vs no ice-cream.

Haagen daz (vanilla, Mac brittle And others) has a premium ingredient list free from gums and preservatives that may or may not wreak havoc on your digestion.

Its actually the only ice cream I can find in conventional supermarkets that doesn't have gums or wierd preservatives

    • Great point. I wrote this above too. Only discovered it recently when I did a side by side ingredient comparison. Was shocked….

Men dont buy that stuff, you eat Ice Cream you dont care ice-cream or no ice-cream because you eat ice-cream.You go to mcdonalds is not for health food.
Also what is premium ingredient? What's good of this haagen do for our body?Make people healthier or what?

  • How do these compare to Sara Lee ?

  • North Sydney Coles seemed to only have cookies and cream flavour.

  • Pretty simple really. Charge a premium and people will think the product is a premium product when in fact people are just getting ripped off and lining the pockets of multi-national companies.

I just tried Salted Caramel, Strawberries and Cream, Cookies and Cream.

The Salted Caramel is amazing, really must be tried, nothing else like it. The Strawberries and cream is nice, doesn't blow me away but still the nicest strawberries and cream I've tasted. The only let down is that Connoisseur Cookies and Cream is actually better than this one.
