Recently a Snowy's deal was posted for the Petzl Actik Core for $85 shipped - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/356833

Now the Black version of this headlamp is only $62.95 at wiggle.com.au - the red version (which I think looks better) is $80.30 which is still cheaper than anywhere else I can find.

This headlamp includes a Core USB-Rechargeable Li-Ion battery pack (same shape as 3xAAA) and is also compatible with 3xAAA batteries

They also sell the battery pack only for $25.68 which is also the best price I can find.

Includes free shipping (from the UK) if you spend over $80. They've got a range of mostly cycling-related stuff, including some nice looking bike lights in their clearance section. I got this in black and a spare Core, for my wife for Mothers Day (may be eligible for Brownie Points, existing relationship required).

No stock level or expiry specified - tho when I add to cart it says "over 10 available" which I think is all they tell you really on any product.

For similar money I'd buy the Fenix HL60R, includes 18650, red LEDs and micro USB rechargeable. AU$83.25 with free shipping, I've never had an issue with delivery from Fastech

Very different lamp! I'm sure a good option, but my wife loves Petzl, probably wouldn't want something that blocky/blokey/bulky, and we're not in the 18650 ecosystem at all yet. And that head-top strap is a bit of a turn off personally! Also the battery has to be in to charge, wheras if you have 2 COREs you can be charging one while using one. Also usability wise, the Petzl brightnesses go off-low-medium-high and red is long-press whereas this goes turbo-red-eco-low-medium-high. I know which sequence I'd prefer in the tent in the middle of the night when the baby starts crying!

    • I went from a Nitecore HC30 18650 head torch to a smaller Black Diamond one. I found that for the things I do and places I go, maybe 99% of the time I don't need such a bright light as it affects night vision and annoys others. The smaller torch is much lighter too.

  • Good price for this headlamp with CORE but add shipping = $75.94 unless spends >$80.

    • Still cheapest even then.

  • Its unclear to me.
Looking at the linked Wiggle page, I see (under "Top Features") :

"it comes with three standard batteries, and is also compatible with the CORE rechargeable battery"

I have currently the Tikka 2XP with core which is an earlier unit and love the tech but my dollars are staying firmly in my pocket until this have been confirmed.

    • Your question has been answered - yes, it's included. However what you already have may be the previous version of the CORE which apparently had some "programmable" features. This includes the current version, which is "dumb".
