Cheapest Prepaid Offer? Kogan Mobile ~$7.50 Per Month?

I'm about to purchase the Kogan 365 Day prepaid plan (buy one get one free) - $179.90 for Unlimited calls and 2GB data for my in-laws.
I thought i'd check here before buying that there weren't other deals that would be cheaper/better. There requirements are unlimited calls and any amount of data, ~1GB would be fine.

This Kogan Mobile deal works out to be ~$7.50 each per month.
Is this currently the best deal compared to other providers?

  • It looks that the 2GB/Unlimited Prepaid Plan @ $179.90 is excluded from buy one, get one free promo? :/

    • yep

    • +2

      Yeah you'd have to go the 6gb/unlimited plan @ $299, which makes it $12.50 each per month.

      or if 1gb is fine, then even better is Amaysim unlimited 1gb sim only plan for $10/28 days, which even when you factor in the fact that it's 28 days, is $10.83 per month

      • +1

        +1 for the $10 Amaysim… Optus network and a good mob to deal with.
        Alternatively.. ask on the classifieds here for anyone with a spare 2 for 1 kogan 6gb/365 coupon.

        • OP is buying for his in-laws who will need to understand that AMAYSIM will add another 1GB data when the current IGB is used up. This is dangerous if the in-laws don't know how to limit their data usage or there are grandchildren visiting who love watching videos on nan's phone.

          I therefore strongly recommend the Kogan plan which is a lovely set and forget setup for relatives. Each month when the data expires, the data runs out until next month. Simples.

        • @Alan Laz:
          Wow… I never knew that Amaysim make it impossible to stop the auto add of an extra gig when the included one runs out. Can anyone else confirm this? I tried looking on their site but no mention of it being able to switch off auto top up.

        • @xywolap:

          It won't auto top up if you sign up as Prepaid, the data will just cut off if over limit

        • @X200T: My experience was I signed up with a credit card and when I realised the trick with auto top up I moved to prepaid. The prepaid credit didn't come along and the account immediately ran out of credit. Amaysim agreed to refund me and I raced to a Kogan account.

          Take care.

        • @Alan Laz:

          I signed up as prepaid when I first activated and never had any issue. When my data goes over limit, it just stopped and it reset next bill cycle. Possibly just setting issue, have a tried Amaysim customer service for any query, they quickly rectify any issue. At least better than Optus ;)

        • @X200T: I am with Amaysim (and contemplating moving to Kogan as my new apartment CANNOT get internet :( )
          Anaysim has all-round been great, the plans have been steadily getting cheaper, however I swear I've had some issues with auto-renewal. Perhaps because I'm on the same plan (no contract) rather than adding a new one each month, perhaps my memory is bad but I'm fairly sure I've turned off auto-renewal occasionally only to have the plan roll-over as if it was set to ON. The option is there though. If you use too much of the data they won't refund but will apparently give you $10 credit in consolation

    • 12 Month SIM Only Plans (All Unlimited Calls & Texts)
      * $8.91 - 1.2GB Data
      * $13.41 - 2GB Data
      * $22.50 - 6.5GB Data

      No Contract SIM Only Plans (All Unlimited Calls & Texts)
      * $8.91 - 1GB Data
      * $13.41 - 1.5GB Data
      * $22.50 - 5.5GB Data

      T&Cs
      * Activation must occur on or before 31 January 2018
      * All plans require monthly payment in advance (you do not have to pay 12-months in advance)
      * $10 SIM & Delivery charge applies
      * Early termination fees apply for 12 month plans
      * Jeenee Mobile uses the Optus 4G Plus network

      I would go this if you don't need more than 1gb data but personally I got a 365 days 16gb data with unlimited calls etc from Kogan for like $170.00 from a fellow Ozbargainer.. great value good for anything

      • Notwithstanding that the 10% off expired in March, Jeenee is probably the best deal around. Basically get 1.2GB and monthly billing v 1GB and 28/30 day billing that some competitors offer.
