$10 sim delivery puts the deal off.. yuck.

    • +15

Wow what a joke, here’s kogan giving them out for free and Jeenee charges you $10..

  • +2

Sorry, I see a few things different than you stated.

    12 Month Sim only plan:
    $22.50 - 6.5GB

    No Contract Sim Only Plan:
    $13.41 - 1.5GB

And honestly, if I didn't have a long standing hate with Optus I might do it but not today.

    • +1

      Thanks. Fixed :)

  • +3

even you add $10 to the 1.2GB plan, it still less than $10/M with unlimited calls & sms. Not bad, not sure if you can get any cheaper than that.

    • +4

Yes there is, get a 1 year small Kogan using a $50 discount voucher (buy for $8.5-9) and voila comes to $9.5 a Month but no risk to go over the data.

      • +3

How do you get a discount voucher?

        • Buy off eBay

        • Buy on here classified items.
I’ve paid around 8.50-9 each time

        • -1

@fozzie: wow this is a whole new level of scam. Can we get $100 (or 2x50) vouchers and get the thing for free afterwards?

        • @Jackson: what do you think? Can? Of course cannot. Dohh

        • @Jackson:
Ahha, I think you are pushing it @100, you can get $50 off though

      • +1

@fozzie Kogan stated this below their 1 year small plan :

The unique Kogan Mobile voucher included as part of this product is non transferrable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 28/02/2018. Activation must be made before the voucher expiry date. Voucher does not apply to subsequent recharges. Voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other vouchers or promotional offers. For information about how to use Kogan Mobile vouchers, click here.

Are you sure you can use it with the 50$ voucher cause that would be cool!

        • +1

Yes you can. I've done it.

        • +1

          I’ve done it 3 times :)

        • +1

          Done it too.

        • @fozzie: That's awesome, how can I get the code? Does kogan email that when you subscribe to them or I buy off ebay? I like that Kogan uses Vodafone. Can you let me know of a reliable seller?

        • +1

@RandomDeviation: hi you need to buy one here ir ebay. I have bought on here all very good sellers (bought 4 or 5 times for different stuff) Look in the classified section, if needed just add a wanted to buy then they will contact you.

        • @fozzie: I can only find $50 (two $25 e-vouchers) but it's limited to one use at a time? How do you take $50 off the kogan sim plans?

        • @bargainist:
The ones I have used are $30 and $20 and they stack. I don’t know about $25 ones… I bought them and they were advertised as $50 off (specifying 2 vouchers $30 and $20)

        • @fozzie: thanks.

  • +3

Warning again, the is postpaid and I will definitely go amaysim prepaid over this.

    • +5

Yeah, looks good until you see that. Data top ups can't be disabled if you go over either which isn't the best.

      • Same, staying clear of amaysim since the auto data top-up.

      • +3

Top-Ups can be disabled by logging into MyJeeneeMobile.

        • Data will be counted in kilobytes, and includes both uploads and
downloads. Once you’ve used your monthly Data Allowance, you’ll
automatically be charged $6.50 for an additional 500MB Top
Up (for that month). A maximum of 5 Top Ups per month can be
added in any billing month after which you’ll be charged at a rate
of $0.02 per MB. Data Top-Ups cannot be disabled for this plan.

        • @ynwa: Where did you get this from?

If you click on "Go to Deal" above, you will find "Top-Ups can be disabled by logging into MyJeeneeMobile. More information on Top-Ups can be found here (https://www.jeenee.org.au/top-ups/)".

        • -1

@epaqgz: I was confused with that too. It turns out that the Critical Information Summary document says that "Data Top-Ups cannot be disabled for this plan". Contradictory information by Jeenee. Would need to contact them to correct and clarify the situation.

@ynwa, helps if you quote sources. :)

        • @MiniMoo: It seems that the condition of "Data Top-Ups cannot be disabled" only apply to the 1GB/1.2GB plan, it contradicts to the statement in "Important Info".

        • @epaqgz: Signed up to this offer a few days ago, seems to turn off fine.

          https://i.imgur.com/t6ZUrrQ.png

        • @MiniMoo:
All the more reason to avoid them if bill shock can't be avoided. Kogan doesn't have this problem.

        • @master131: Great! I guess someone forgot to remove that condition from the 1G/1.2GB plan critical information sheet.

        • +2

On Android, can't you limit your mobile data to 1.2GB? I currently have mine limited at 1GB (actually 1000MB just in case) as I'm on a 1GB plan, but wouldn't this prevent bill shock?

        • @pennypincher98: Be aware that the auto top ups disabled state reverts back to an enable state every billing cycle !
I have complained about this !

        • @techboy: You can disable it from the settings in Android itself, so it is not reverted back unless you tell it to. The phone literally cuts off your connection so you can completely avoid the JM fiasco.

        • @pennypincher98: I have disabled it and it keeps coming back on every month, I rang to complain and they said they knew and it was a "feature"…
I strongly suggested that it should stay off.
By the settings in android are you talking about the Jeene app or the data limit setting?

        • +1

@techboy: By the settings in Android I am talking about the physical Settings button in the Android OS.

  • +1

Perhaps a silly question "$8.91 - 1GB Data" is it for the first month only?

    • $8.91 would be the regular monthly price.

    • Yes want to know this also

  • +1

Just fyi, they are impossible to get in contact with.

  • Very competitive indeed, they use to be not for profit before ( surprised to see .org )…but would happily pay bit more if they could include international calls

    • I'll also miss the international calls if I switch, thinking of buying Skype credit from the savings, its circa $11 less per month and I won't be able to finish all the credit in one month. If things doesn't work well we can always switch, don't signup for monthly contracts.
Any other thoughts recommendations for international calls?

      • +3

You could use VoIP, such as MyNetFone Whirlpoolsaver or Neosaver (https://www.mynetfone.com.au/whirlpool/VoIP/Plans). Install a VoIP app, such as CSipSimple, on your phone, then you could make international calls using VoIP over your mobile data quota.

        • This is the kind of thing I've been looking for. Now you just need to setup a DNS tunnel, free data and cheap calls!

      • The Lebara 360 day deal might have suited you better.

        • Wish lyca could comeup with such deal…(telstra network)

      • ATM i am using Amaysim (has few calling to few countries)…paid $24 for 6 months…waiting for similar deal again…(6 mnths expiring in Feb)

  • .
flame57 Does this mean people already signed up on the 12 month plan will get the extra 200 meg per month or is it only for new users?

  • +1

you should really make a 15gb $28 plan

  • +4

How to get it for existing customers? Can't see the option in my account only the $22 or $25

  • I think you forgot to add Jesse mobile is the only prepay in town that credit check you for a miserable couple of dollars a month insulting your integrity.

  • They are a really difficult company to communicate with if you need any service. Takes hours before you get through,, don't reply to emails and if you try port your number to another company they don't co-operate

    • On the contrary porting my number took 2-3 hrs. If that's considered unco-operative then yes they didn't co-operate

    • My mum ordered a Jeenee SIM card a few weeks ago. The card took a couple of days to arrive but porting from Aldi to Jeenee took a week.

    • hmm I've had nothing but an easy experience w them… Ossie call centres and got through quickly… ported to Lyca a year ago but will probs go back to this :)

  • +1

    Kogan is cheaper

    • I agree, all family is with Kogan and also some friends are moving over. Especially with vouchers going around and if you get referral! I managed to get very cheap 1 year vouchers. Even at full price the fact that you don’t need to worry going above data is a big plus. I have an 11 and 15 years old so you can imagine how risky it would be giving them a postpaid plan.

  • +1

I just want to add for anyone on the fence. The customer service is absolute garbage. Getting the SIM initially took forever and getting ported out to another Optus network carrier took a week because they never answered their phone.

  • +3

That $10 SIM delivery charge is a bit of a rort.

    • +2

If you are looking for unlimited international minutes and more data, I would recommend to go with Lebara 12 months medium plan which cost 199 dollars for 12 months equivalent to $ 16.50/month. You can unlimited international and national call with 5 GB data. No sim delivery charge. I rather pay $6.5 extra per month to get all the above than paying $9/month with jeenee and u only get 1.2GB data with no international call.

  • I am on the $10 month plan with unlimited text and calls and 500MB + 500MB free, can I get onto this plan?

      1. Available for new and re-contracting customers only.
      • Oh thanks pilchard, you know I read that 5 hours ago from Gershom post which you cut and pasted and can see on this page after this post without scrolling and I replied to, why do that?

        • Sorry, I was just trying to answer your question.

I cut and paste from the Jeenee terms and conditions where I found the answer.

I didn't see you had replied somewhere else!

  • Can anyone confirm this has free charge for call diversion/forwarding (to Australian mobile number)?

  • +2

Was with them for a while and would highly recommend.

  • Am with them for a year. No problem with speed. Upload speed better then my wife's optus account at same place.

They do take a while to send out a sim. Porting from vaya took 24hours for voice and 48 to get data.

Called Jeenee customer centre once to cancel secondary data sim. It did take about 25 minutes on hold. But once thru cancellation was easy.

    Happy with this carrier.

    HTH

  • +1

    Important info
    1. Available for new and re-contracting customers only.

Not for the other kind of customers then, the current non-recontracting ones? Sheesh!

    • Darn, looks like I will have to wait another 9 months before moving to this plan. No biggie, I would have saved $1.09 per month and gained an extra 200MB.

      DARN!!!

    • +1

Any idea how I recontract to the promotional offer? Only their normal offers are listed when you press the Change Plan button.

      • +1

        I’d like to know too

      • Their call centre said existing Jeenee customers are not allowed to purchase these, it's only for new customers

        • Thanks for calling them and reporting back. That's disappointing as the advertising says "Available for … re-contracting customers"

        • @shump: it is disappointing, it seems they'd rather lose your business to another provider than let you commit to a new contract through this offer. I haven't been looking to change but might do so when their attitude is that if you leave you're then eligible for better pricing if you decide to come back.

  • I signed up with Jeenee 2 years ago, they were good back then, wait time when ringing them up was around 3 minutes, and they were polite ad efficient. Lately it's been not so good, network kept dropping out, I tried to ring them to find out what's going on, waited over 20 minutes each them and still no answer. I gave up, wanted to cancel, read the fine print, they need 1 month notice, but if they don't pick up the call, how do I give notice?! so be warned….

    • -1

It's a cheap service $8.91 the price of a bigmac meal, you can't expect them to rub the ego of their customers over the phone and pay someone to mess around with that crap, it's probably all available to do via their website.

  • Had this for little over a month now and have to say I'm happy with what I got. The $10 delivery fee did put me off but I tried to convince my parents to get it as well so combined all shipping into 1. I signed up @ $9.90/month for 1.2gb 12 month contract. Reception is also really good.

  • hey guys, need help.

I'm looking for a mobile plan. Is this the best value?

I heard about kogan, vaya etc. I'm new to this at the moment.

  • Lycamobile do not allow MMS.
    (Lycamobile use wholesale Telstra)

Does Lebara or Kogan, allow for "Unlimited MMSs" ?

Which network does Lebara and Kogan use ?

I know Jenee allow MMSs, but I wonder if sending MMSs, is counted towards the data allowance.

  • anyone tried contacting them about re-contracting onto the new plans? How'd you go

    • Their call centre said existing Jeenee customers are not allowed to purchase these, it's only for new customers coming from other carriers :(

  • I haven't activated the sim yet but the billing month already started??
When l logged into my account "Your new billing month starts on the 17th of each month (27 days remaining)." WTF??

    • Yes, that is how they work.
Billing commences from the time they post out the SIM.
It's only a few days. Don't lose sleep over it. You still have the full month's data to use over the remaining days.

  • I'm looking for a good plan for 2GBs data.

    Any provider is fine
