used to be $69 last month (also 36 months) for Pixel

      This has 3,162,132 pixels…

Mate, for what it’s worth, I fkn loved your comment. I had a good 10-20 second laugh. Thank you.

36 month plan? Wth? That's like three iphone releases.

    • -1

Im considering it as i don't buy a new iphone every release and the 17 looks like a great leap from my 14. Will wait to see if JB matches it and throws in gift cards

      • -6

base model to base model won't be a great leap. even a 14 Pro / Pro Max would be a greater leap than a base 17. i recommend going for the 17 pro or pro max (depends on your size preference) if you plan keep your phone for the longest time

        • +6

This just isn't true. The base 17 is going to outperform the 14 pro in every way. The only thing the 14 pro has going for it is an additional camera. Otherwise the cameras in the 17 are better, it's going to be more performant, and the screen is going to be better and brighter now that the base has the same 120hz LTPO screen as the pro models.

        • +2

basically the only difference between the 17 pro and a 17 base is the camera

        • +1

there is more upgrades in the base model from previous base models than there is going from a pro to a pro.

          maybe read the specs?

        • Sorry I got a 14 pro and the base 17 is an upgrade with no zoom availability. I’m also considering it.

      • +3

Stick with your 14, you won't notice much improvements unless you need the latest and greatest for bragging rights.

    • +1

TBH phones are so incremental now that I've gone from upgrading every 2 years to every 3. I just get a battery replacement after year 2 and it feels good as new (mentally anyway)

      • +1

I'm doing every 4 years now that Android get years of OS upgrades too.

      • Yeah my 15 is still on 88% battery after two years. I think I might extend to a 5-year cycle now. Replacing the battery isn’t such a bad idea anymore. Gonna wait for air 4.

  • +1

Works out to be $41/month if you deduct $1400 for the phone which isn't too bad

    • And how much data we get with that ? International calls inclusive?

      • +2

        150GB/month
        International calls are not included

    • +1

I’m so confused. If I want to get an iPhone 17 pro max 256gb. How much am I going to pay a month along with the mobile plan

  • +2

    What's the cancellation cost?

    • Your life 😅

    • Interested to know!

      • +4

$2472. No wonder these aren't popular.

        • +5

Incorrect. $2472 is if you cancel immediately. If you do this then you need to hand in your OzBargain membership

If you cancel after 4 months, it’s only $1264, which I guess that’s what most ppl may do. So out of pocket is $1264 + ($79 x 4) = $1580

          • +1

@BargainsGrabber: Huh? So it's correctn't? But anyway $1400 off for out of pocket $1580 is still bad. Full details

          • @BargainsGrabber: How do you work this out?

            • @TheFreaK: It’s in the attached link above under Maximum plan cancellation fee after 120 days

          • +2

@BargainsGrabber: Wait I’m confused. If I wanna get a iPhone 17 pro max 256gb. It’s $2197. Deduct $1400 (as part of the deal). Which equals to $797. Then cancel after 4 months which means I need to pay 4 months of $79 dollars and the cancellation fee. 797 + 1104 + (4 x 79) = $2,217. So I technically if I wanted to save money on the phone + mobile plan Ive achieved that. But if I wanted to just get the phone at a cheaper price by itself this is not the way. Are my calculations correct?

            • @wes0110: Yup yup, your calcs are correct, but mashmallow2 referenced the $2472, which I believe they took the cancellation fee if terminating early

  • -1

Also available at officeworks in NSW and some VIC stores, FYI

    • is it the same deal ? can you please share link ?

  • At Apple Store, is Vodafone plan $69 36 months with $1399 phone off still available?

  • +4

$69 over 24 months would be a deal.

    • +1

Agreed. And as much as everyone hates Gerry Normal, I think they've been dishing out the goods vs JB Telstra in recent times if you talk about phone plans.

    • That's only for Android devices

  • -3

My iphone XS Max still works fine.

  • 95% of iphones will have cracked screens by the end of the plan

    • I’ve probably had 10 iPhones in my life and have never cracked a screen. I don’t understand why people are so careless with them.

  • +1

this seems like a terrible deal vs just buying outright and going with a cheap plan.

It's not even a backdoor to getting a cheaper phone since the cancellation + the 4 months will be more than the phone is worth.

It might be a go-er if you get your access charges reimbursed by your employer, but that's the key to everyting in life; get someone else to pay for it.

  • Wild that people are still hoodwinked by mobile phone contracts…

  • +3

    HODL

they pulled this 36 month garbage with pixel 10 release as well, but lo and behold the good 24 month plans popped up for a few days just after release.

If there's anything to learn with HN plans these days, if the deal is running for a couple of weeks then it's not the best deal - the real good stuff is 2-4 days only.

    • 100% agree. Think we'll see the exact same scenario.

This offer will be on the table from now until the end of September. Then Grand Final weekend (26-27th) they'll boost the offer for the last days of the month with 36 months / $1800 off or 24 month $1400 off.
