          @nightelves: then you need to learn to pack better. seriously.

          I just got back from 2 weeks in the US - family of 4. When we departed from Oz our 2 suitcases were 17kg + 21kgs. and that included a smaller suitcase inside each suitcase for bringing back shopping, etc.

          @dtpearson: I can spend $1 on aliexpress to buy a TSA friendly luggage 150 gram strap then if that will bolster your confidence in my suitcases remaining shut.

          and seriously, how many times have you seen suitcases split open with failed zips and clothes spread all over a baggage carousel?

          I have never seen that happen and I've travelled more than most people.

        did you buy a ferrari to go to the supermarket?

        that is simply how I view this deal. overly expensive for something that serves the sole purpose of containing my crap when I travel.

        admittedly, my last 2 luggage acquisitions were hard rubbish finds. one had a broken wheel - 1 hour replacement job. The other had a bent internal clasp which stopped it from closing. just required unbending (literally less than 10 seconds) and I had a virtually brand new suitcase (it had one small scratch on it). so I don't like buying luggage.

      I used this size case without a problem with Qantas but when i look at their website it seems this does exceed their measurements. I have also used this size luggage on Jetstar without any problems
