Quality Everyday Use Men's Briefs and Socks

Hey OzB,

I want to replace all of my socks and briefs but I have no idea where to go for quality.
Bamboo socks seem to last a long while and are comfortable.

Any suggestions on where to go for quality relaxed fitting briefs and comfortable socks?
I suppose I'm after office/business socks?

TIA

Uniqlo for the business socks. They last me a very long time. I have no issues with Bonds for everything else. I guess having an office job doesn't lead to much wear and tear!

    • I have just started wearing Uniqlo business socks and so far am very happy with them.

Another vote for Uniqlo undies. I haven'y tried their socks because they only go up to size 11.

    • Yep. That's a no go for me.
      I have big hooves too.

Aussiebum, when they have a sale.
Possibly branded stuff from ASOS eg CK or Lacoste

  • 'Next' is better quality. Free shipping from the UK for orders over $35, and $6 shipping for under $35. http://www.next.com.au/en

Well Aldi currently has socks and briefs in their 'special buys'. $4 for a 3 pack of socks including sizes 11-14.

Also, Woolworths currently has half price on Bonds until tomorrow, but for socks this is still double the price compared to Aldi.

Not sure about quality but personally I don't really have a reason to stop buying the cheap stuff. I still have some 8 year old socks from Reject Shop, elasticity is reduced but still no holes. May have worn them 400 times, including today. Whereas I bought brand-name Slazenger socks that became frayed after maybe 20 uses.

    • Currently?
Your Aldi link is from April 2016? I'm a little confused.

Thanks for the Woolworths link. Didn't see that. I think I'll go there for socks as generic bonds tend to last a long time.

      • I went to Aldi yesterday and bought the black socks, size 11-14. The link I gave is from 2018 but that website has a typo. Look at the URL it says Week 16, 2018. Also the red column on the edge of the page says "ON SALE WEDNESDAY 18 APRIL" but 18 April 2016 was a Monday.

I actually went to Woolworths first and bought the bonds socks but then returned them after I found some in Aldi for nearly half of the half price Bonds, and the Aldi quality didn't seem bad. I bought some Aldi socks last year too and they seem decent. I only bought new ones because the old ones have a coloured toe and the Dr told me to wear a moon boot where my toes poke through the end.

  • Rivers sells some good briefs trunks. Wearing them now pretty comfy and durable imho.

As for socks I just wear whatever honestly sometimes not even the same match.

    • That's kind of the problem I have at the moment. I do not have two socks that match.
I have been asked on more that one occasion if I am color blind.

I purchased a bunch of shirts from Rivers once and they all fell apart (stitching). That was quite a long time ago. I would imagine that things have improved since then.

Yeah rivers has improved immensely I would say over the past year. New stuff is great have a whole new wardrobe of shorts, jeans, shoes and briefs trunks now all very good quality imho.

Next step up would be to get some invulnerable clothes like made of Kevlar or something so I don't rip em when I stretch my quads or something.

Socks to me are socks as long as you don't buy some cheap quality material you should be ok.

  • Giordano has some good socks from my experience, they can be quite colorful & graphy tho http://www.giordano.com/AU/en-US/C1.aspx?TabID=000010&SKeyWo…

I researched socks and bought 'Darn Tough' work socks from Massdrop, they are comfy.
Meant to have lifetime guarantee but not sure about claiming from Aus..

Still not sure what briefs are best.

  • Kmart Alpha brand sport trunks. They're like underarmour trunks, or skins, but they're about $7 each. Have had them for a few years.

If you have a costco nearby, they sell Adidas long trunks, 3 for about $20 IIRC. Also, the Costco wool socks are great. They are pretty good summer and winter, although they aren't the best looking socks (if you care).

    • I don't have a Costco membership.
Usually not fussed about appearance but I would prefer everything to be generic black.

Colorful underwear is too much excitement for me.

  • For briefs go for Xiaomi.

    • no B28

    • quick charge plug?

  • I stumbled upon Boody - all Bamboo products. My feet are now in heaven - best socks I have ever had in 45 yrs on this planet (work/boot socks & sports ankle socks. Business socks are too thin). Their breifs are pretty comfy too. https://www.boody.com.au/

  • Aldi's range of Barely underwear is very comfortable and cheap , usually $10 for a pack of 5 briefs.

  • I didn't think I had big feet until now. Most sellers seem to only go up to 11. I'm generally a 12-14 depending on the country they are coming from.

    Thanks for your help everyone.
I purchased socks from Next and boxer briefs from Bonds (Woolworths).

Step One boxers. Most comfortable I've ever worn. Replaced everything with these now. Really perform in the heat when would normally get uncomfortably sweaty.
