For those looking after some compact digital cameras. OW had some selected models, some I have look at and are cheaper than Static ice (note: the lower prices shown on static ice SI usually are GREY market ones…)

The ones I have looked at and may be worth look at are:

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH1 $149 (SI Lowest $168-179) DSE $198

28 mm wide-angle
HD video
Optical Zoom: 5X ,Optical image stabiliser
Screen: 2.7" LCD

Sony W350 $179 (SI Lowest $180-189)

It's all depend on what you are after (budget/ zoom/ video/ lcd size…)
Most say "online only" so maybe need to add $4.95 for delivery (or can try in store?)

  • Is it possible to price match grey market digital cameras at OW?

    • Technically no, but if you find someone who misses that detail or a site that has that detail nicely "integrated" into the description and is based in Australia then you might get lucky.
IIRC someone here has been lucky enough to do that before.

      • Yes it's all depend on the staff. Once tried to match price a big printer…only to found out from the staff that the online store actually sell "import" ones after he called…so could not match price

  • I got a Nikon Coolpix S610 for $99 in Hobart (not listed on website). Seemed like a good deal for an older runout model. Originally $300 or so and current prices in some shops were around $150 mark.

  • +1

I just scored a Olympus T-100, 12MP with stabilisation for $10 (ex-display) at DSE. No battery or cable, can be found for $10 online :) Camera usually retails for $125

    • Holy crap that's a bargain, you can just use that as a chuck around camera (although not having a battery and charger can be annoying, but nothing china cant fix lol).
And where online? I wouldn't mind grabbing one myself.

      • Re online… he was saying the battery and cable are available online not the camera at that price.

    • Yeah, sorry guys :(

I found the camera on DSE store clearance (they are clearing the store) for $10, it was sold without a battery or cable.

With the amount of contacts I have in China I figured it wouldn't cost me more than $10 for a cable and battery…I was right. Essentially I'll have a fully functioning camera for $20, usually $125 or so. I consider it a bargain because my old 3.2MP Olympus is a bit dodgy. Might go donate it to charity (the 3.2MP) if my friend doesn't want it.

If you want to try your luck

      GO NUTS!

  • Further reductions in Hobart store when I went in. This Nikon Coolpix S610 I bought for $99 is now $79. Fantastic camera, takes a great picture indoors and out.
