New Samsung Fridge Loud

Is it normal for a new fridge to start noisy?

I bought this. The delivery guy said let it rest for an hour. I waited two.

The fan is loud for about 40 minutes at a time and I can hear dripping noises in the fridge intermittently but the fan will be going constant. It’s NOT a buzzing sound, definitely more fan like. It then goes really quiet but starts again within 30.

Not sure if this is how it’s suppose to be as people have said in reviews it’s super quiet.

Sounds awful. I'd be ringing AO and having them replace it, before much time has passed.

not sure why you ask us instead of manufacture/ AO ? I would say buy some ear plugs? :)

I had bought an inverter fridge from AO that emitted a really high pitched whine (that was fairly standard for inverters). Wasn't noticeable to most but matched perfectly with my tinnitus so was incredibly irritating!
Normally this wouldn't be grounds for a return but AO allow even change of mind returns within 14 days for exchange. They were outstanding and replaced the fridge no questions asked.
This actually sounds like a problem with the fridge so you'll have even less trouble. Give it a day or so and if it doesn't change, return it.

It's the fan cooling the digital invertor every now and then as the compressor is constantly on when the fridge is on. It's not conventional compressor where it on and off…

    • So normal to hear the fan with this type of digital investor?

Call them Monday and say it was faulty.

I’d have called them within an hour of it being delivered.

    • 4pm on a Friday didn’t help.

  • The Fan that you are hearing allows the Freezer to operate ‘Frost Free’ , so it’s normal for it to be running. If it’s really noticeable it could be a dud bearing, or it may become less noticeable as the bearing ‘wears in’.
If the Fan gets louder it’s just a Warranty issue, and normally involves a quick visit by a repairman to change the Fan.

  • Did you try disconnecting the power to the fridge for a while then reconnecting?

  • I was finally able to get someone to check it out.

They said that yes , the compressor is too loud. Which is what it is been from day one.

Said he could repair it but I want a new fridge. Am I entitled to push for a new fridge even if Samsung come back to me saying it’s repairable?
