Natural Gas BBQ Not Heating up

Hi Guys,

So I just installed my Natural Gas BBQ and I'mm having a problem which I hope someone on here can help!

Basically, its not getting hot enough.

The connection is going from a wall Natural Gas outlet, to a cut off switch, to a hose, to a regulator, in to the BBQ.

Basically I gave up heating it up for a roast after it wouldn't get past 100 c after 45 minutes with the lid down.

I've Googled it, but everything is around propane (LPG), not NG. There is a safety feature in the regulator which slows down the gas flow if you turn the natural on too quick.

Except for that I'm kind of stuff….any help would be great!

Update: I spoke to their support and they have sent me out a new thermometer. It should arrive Friday or Monday. I'll install it and update.

So I just installed my Natural Gas BBQ and im having a problem

Did you talk to whoever you bought it from?

    • I bought it from Appliances Online. Not sure how much help they would be..?

use a cigarette lighter to locate a possible leak

  • Are you sure it is the right regulator?
Are you sure the BBQ is NG? The LPG burner holes are a different size.
Can you eliminate the cut off switch and see if it the same?

    • Im using the regulator that came with it.

The BBQ is this one https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/everdure-snngc-13pack-su…
(Wow the price just right up!!)

yeah I can remove the cut off switch. So Wall outlet > host > regulator > hose > bbq.

      • Because the natural gas operates at a lower pressure, natural gas appliances have bigger holes in the burners to let more gas through.
I'm thinking they accidentally shipped you the wrong one (or they sent two sets of burner jets and you installed the wrong ones?).
There is usually a big sticker on the back that says Natural Gas or LPG.
In any case, I think you need to call the supplier.

  • LPG and household gas are delivered at different pressure. A different regulator and burner jets are required. Call a plumber

  • From the manual here https://webbackend.shriro.com.au/images/upload/files/Assembl…

it says the gas pressure should be 0.95 kPa (page 4). But I cant find a pressure gauge that will measure such a low pressure.

    • The method of testing gas pressure is to use a manometer

How is your stove in the house ?

If you are still having issues I would prob suggest reading the manual and calling for service to who is listed in the user guide

I would suggest the regulator supplied is prob faulty but more than likely they have supplied a lpg version which has smaller jets and it hasn’t been converted

Have a good look at the bbq and find the compliance plate and read what it states

      • Hey thanks, it ended up being a faulty thermometer. I installed the new one and it is now showing the correct temp.

        Thanks for you help :)

  • Did you purchase a regular bottled gas bbq and convert it over to natural - they don't get hot enough for some reason when you convert them over. I did the same thing and have the same problem.

  • I use to have a LPG bbq and it was great. Just old and cheap.

I bought a new BBQ that came with natural gas already setup
