GEFORCE GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition $1129 + Free Expedited Shipping (Limit 2 per Customer) @ Nvidia Australia

150

Despite some vendors claiming nVidia never re-stock, it's finally back in stock. Might be good for those interested in getting a Founders Edition card.

Interestingly, the US store has no stock left.

    still waiting for GTX 1180

never buy from a manufacturer's website. apple, dyson, nvidia… cannot believe nvidia has its own estore now.

    • why?

      • Skaz, here you go:

This video by Erik may help explain why.

        • Well that was the most speculative, unresearched exposé video i've seen in a while. Borderline tin foil hat material

Your only way to get a graphics card without getting ripped off because of Bitcoin inflation

Out of curiosity what is the average performance difference between a GTX 1050 Ti and a 1080 Ti… 3x the performance roughly? Or more.

Guys, please consider Nvidia's principles before investing in any of their products.

I'm not an Amd fanboy, but just a fan of fair competition.

Or the recent GPP scandal (now axed).

    • +7

I can't bring myself to buying an amd video card again. The drivers are woeful.

      • Same here. Was a long time AMD user and got sick of all the headaches. Never had an issue with my Nvidia card

    • +2

There's plenty of examples of AMD being dicks too, so don't get dragged into the team red/green nonsense, just support fair competition and welcome partner programs that work towards a better result for consumers (which is not what the GPP ultimately was).

  • +5

I prefer to buy from the board partners instead which have better cooling anyway. If Nvidia and AMD slowly start cutting out the middle man we'll end up seeing a lot of our favourite brands shutting up shop.

  • +3

$40 more and you get a better cooler and probably better clock speeds.

There is also a 1080ti for $1089 but they're out of stock. I have noticed in the last week both 1080 ($720+) and 1080ti's (~$1150) have dropped a bit.

Aren't we 2 months away from a new gen? Wouldn't be smart to buy now if so.

    • I'm tempted tbh. It's guesswork but the new cards will be expensive when they first come out and it will likely take 6 months for the price to settle down (if the miners don't swam to them, longer otherwise). Normal performance increase between gens is about 20%? I would expect the newer version of the 1080 to be 1k at launch so $300 for 20% increase.

      • Given the expected timing of the launch, it'll take up to 4 months for prices to settle if there's no mining (or mad post-mining for gamers) craze.

As for performance uptick, that's expected to be about 40-50% due to an increased die (~20 %) despite a process shrink (16 nm to 12 nm) and moving to GDDR6 VRAM (30-50% more memory bandwidth if that holds across xx50 through xx80 series), but there'll be no gains on power efficiency as a result.

The move to 7nm will be the next big jump in terms of efficiency, additionally pushing 4k gaming into being the standard (for this gen it will likely be from the xx60 up).

      • Even still you would be better off waiting for the new gen so current gen prices drop heaps.

    • It might be released in two months, but would you buy it then? I'd sit back and let others sort out the problems and see if it is actually any good. By that time glitch free drivers might be available too

      • I will skip the new gen, I bought the 1080ti strix on release and it's more than handled everything with ease so far but I agree, waiting a few months would help prices.

  • +2

Why would anyone want a founders edition card!

    • +2

If you want blower style for a small enclosure with limited ventilation (eg eGPU box).

But IMO I'd hold out until next gen… feels like 1080Ti has been out a while (which it has given I got one for my birthday in June last year) and it was $1000 from futu_online in an eBay 20% off sale back then. I know there's inflation and all but it just feels wrong to pay more for older technology! (obviously not taking into account retro/vintage)

    • +1

      They look better imo

      • How much of the card do you actually see when its sitting inside a case ? Just the top in most instances.

  • should be sucker somewhere in title…..

    eg Free Expedited Shipping sucker

  • +1

Not really a bargain. GPU prices are coming down, new series will be out in 2-3 months. This is the original MSRP. Cheaper here : https://www.pccasegear.com/products/40953/inno3d-geforce-gtx…

  • 980 Ti.. I'll upgrade when 1180 Ti hits.

  • Despite some vendors claiming nVidia never re-stock, it's finally back in stock.

Why the need to lie in the description?

  • Just sold my 1080ti to get an 1180ti….

    • how much did you get for a secondhand one?

    • Hope you like waiting Krondorf..

    • You will be waiting a while. Not to October-November
