$99.95 for a pan? Wait what?

saw it in costco, selling at double of the price, was about to buy one until saw this video
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUmhiXTajgs

    • No offence to the owner of the pan in the video, but the Woll pan depicted does not appear to have been very well looked after. A non-stick pan needs to be cleaned after every use. A pan that has not been cleaned correctly between uses will keep baking food onto the surface ruining the surface. Thank you for your time.

    • fabulous cookware?
For this quality, the price is too high.

What a poor marketing video. Starts in the middle of nowhere, nobody can say what condition the pan was in before heating it up

    • +2

That video is probably made by competitors of Woll to discredit them, but they made such a horrendous video which actually showed that the Woll pan they used looked like it was seasoned like a cast iron with layers of burnt oil on top. Explains why the hell it is sticking.

From whirlpool and convinced me not to buy:
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2200853

I own no less than 8 Woll Nowo Titanium cookware pieces. They are all less than 2 years old. I bought them all from Costco Australia. The first piece that I bought was the 28cm Saute Pan. It's about 20 months old now but the non-stick qualities are wearing out. So that means when I cook an omelette without oil, it's not possible. Cooking meat without oil, bearable. But you don't want 'bearable' for what is marketed as a 'high end' 'everlasting' '25 year warranty' cookware right?

So I took my Saute pan back to Costco / Woll to get an exchange / refund. The Woll duty manager who happened to be at Costco started questioning me. More like an accusation. Firstly, she accused me of using Olive Oil in my cooking. She said if you used Olive Oil, it will create tar-like deposits that will reduce the non-stick properties. This advice is contrary to the Woll Manual which says you can use Olive Oil with Woll Pans. Next, this Woll duty manager started accusing me of 'burning the pan' based on looking at the condition of the bottom of the pan and the external sides of the pan. The funny thing is, the Costco Customer Service Rep was there and she look surprised because my Saute Pan most definitely did not look 'burnt'.

The sides and bottom of the pan was not burnt and it had some very minor brown stains from the cooking of Wagyu steaks. Wagyu steaks have high fat content and when you pour the fat out, some of it may drip over the sides of the pan, leaving a browning effect. And if you were to add up all these brown spots on the external of the pan, it would not even add up to 10% of the surface area of the pan. Furthermore, the external wall of the pan and the bottom of the pan does not affect the non-stick qualities. You will get oil dripping from the sides of the pan to the bottom if you cook dish after dish with the pan, over time.

However, this obstinate Woll duty manager refused to provide a refund on the grounds that I burnt my pan. I am happy to show pictures of my pan to this forum to decide whether it's been burnt or just normal wear and tear. However, Woll also do not warranty against normal wear and tear, even if the non-stick layer fails within the warranty period.

So my question is, why would you have a 25 year warranty on the structure of a high-end non-stick pan, when the warranty for the non-stick layer is only 3 years? Furthermore, if the non-stick layer wears out normally before 3 years, Woll does not warranty against normal wear and tear. So what's the point of having a warranty?

Next I showed the Woll Duty Manager my Woll Wok. It was blistering in some parts of the non-stick layer. I have only used the Wok sparingly and only for about 16 months or so. She immediately said that the blistering is due to wear and tear but it's perfectly fine, you can still use it. So I said, alright, if it's not because of me burning the work that's causing the blisters, that means Costco and provide me a refund thanks to their 'double gurantee'. If I am not happy with the performance of my Woll cookware, I can basically get a refund from Costco, as long as Woll provides an assessment that I did not 'mistreat' the pan.

So after what was a gruelling after sales experience with Woll, I decided to take all my other pans back to Costco, on the same day, to get a refund. I really do not want to use all of them for 2 years and suffer the same experience whereby the non-stick later has deteriorated and Woll does not stand by their 3 year warranty. In fact, Woll does not stand by their Warranty full stop because they have so many 'disclaimers' that it makes Woll a 'high maintenance' cookware.

Frankly speaking, Costco should really just remove Woll from having a demo stall there. I am sharing this experience with everyone because I do not want you all to suffer the horrible experience I went through. I spent thousands on dollars on Woll and have even given some away as gift because I thought they were a great, but only for the first 6 months. Forget about using them for 25 years or even 3 years.

In a nutshell, stay away from Woll. Woe to those who decide to invest in Woll.

    • I haven't had many issues with Woll, just plead ignorance to everything and threaten them with ACL as they cannot prove anything. Or go to Costco when the Woll people aren't around, so they are forced to just refund it without asking Woll.

Actually if I was you I would also argue the other pans were not up to your satisfaction as they burned and non longer stick. Doesn't matter if it was mistreated as they never defined what was the definition or mistreatment when you purchased. I've had costco tried to pull the mistreatment card on me before, i asked them for photographic proof of mistreatment and that this description or photographic example wasn't shown to me at purchase.

I have switched to Stainless Steel and Cast Iron for 90% of my cookware though which saves me the hassle of non-stick. I only have 1 non-stick pan left.

    • I had problem with one of my Woll 28cm pan purchased from Costco. Took it to Costco customer service desk (As I lost my receipt). They looked up my purchase in their system following my membership number and got a refund without any fuss.

  • Hi,anyone know:What brand of non stick pan, high temperature and durability? Thanks!

    • +1

Woll is the only one which would fit that category.

If you wanted just non-stick then there is quite a few brands i can recommend. But if you wanted one with both high temp and nonstick, then its Woll. Or go with Stainless Steel…. at high temp with very little oil, you can cook on stainless steel with very little to no sticking.

      • Thank you!

Arcosteel Stonehenge (Woolworths have them at good prices) Must read the instructions.
Great pan if used correctly. Dont put hot pan under cold water. Best non stick pan i have ever used.
          Product review… https://www.productreview.com.au/p/arcosteel-stonehenge-fryp…

Another good pan but is not non stick.. Aldi Crofton brand thick based stainless.

Both are top quality without paying silly prices.

        • Thank you very much!
