Buy The Redmi Note 5 for $300 AUD - shipping included or wait for a potentially cheaper price?

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster.
I'm considering buying the new Redmi Note 5 (the international version of the Redmi Note 5 Pro) as it just got released, I found what I think to be a pretty good deal from this website for $300 AUD shipping included - https://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/xiaomi-redmi-note-5…

Do you all think this is a good deal?
Or should I wait a couple more weeks for more e-tailers to release the phone and hope for a potentially cheaper price point?

  • It's not going to get cheap in 4 weeks, maybe in 4 months.

    • Considering it just came out, its more a lack of places selling it. So once more stores stock the device it may be a cheaper price point elsewhere.
However, from what I am seeing eGlobal seems to be on the cheaper end for other devices I was looking at so you are probably right, this may be the best price point to get it at this month.

    • +1

Not the same phone, Redmi 5 Plus is not as good as the Redmi Note 5

  • Are you sure this is the international version of the Redmi Note 5 Pro?
Even I am looking to buy one

    • The biggest way to tell is the processor, the actual international Redmi Note 5's have the Snapdragon 636 processor instead of the 625. Also the dual camera used in the images.
However, i do believe it still has the older Adreno 506 instead of the updated 509 like the Indian Redmi Note 5 Pro has.

      • Okay thanks.
But it says 25$ for shipping. How are you getting it shipped for free?

        • free shipping in banner across front page for period 8-10 may

        • @rinbond: The shipping says $25, but at checkout there is a free option, the free shipping option also becomes $25 once a coupon code is applied too.

  • I took the plunge, hopefully i get it within 4 weeks…

  • How about waiting for catch.com.au to stock it? There's a 20% off on gift cards at Woolworths atm so my strategy may be to get $300 worth of gift cards this week and hope it'll be available there soon. Any thoughts?
