I Want to Invest Some 7.1 Headset but Idk What to Choose

Hi guys, I am thinking to get 7.1 gaming headset for pubg at the moment. Wanted to go bit budget friendly like under $200

Was thinking to get some Rog strix wireless but I have RS180 for other use.. Was looking for some websites and found some ppl saying "if you have a decent headphone, pairing it with a 7.1 sound card is better"

So I am kinda having hard time to make my mind..

Any suggestions???

I've got a pair of wireless steelseries arctis 7 and IMO theyre pretty sweet. cups are comfy, surround is gimmicky and dependant on the game you play (read decent in PUBG)but nonetheless its pretty good. battery life is pretty good too, would last a week of 2hr sessions a day before needing a recharge. only gripe if it ever becomes one is that the battery is non-replacable but ill cross that bridge when i get there

  • My only suggestion is to forgo the wireless function.

Sure it's slightly more convenient not having a wire to worry about — but the inconvenience of having to recharge your headset/have it run out of charge while playing is a con that far outweighs the pros.

I stuck with a rechargeable headset for about a month before I decided the hassle wasn't worth it — YMMV.

    • running out of charge whilst playing is a problem with the user. most (newer) wireless headsets would easily last 15hrs and if they have decent software to back them up, you'd get ample warnings before the battery goes flat. you can always charge them on the fly too should you get to that situation, but again being proactive and putting back on charge after a long session negates your con

      • My Logitech G series headset was used every day, recharged every night for a month and I noticed my battery yield was down to about 5 hours maximum use on a full 0-100% charge.

Unsure whether it was an issue with the individual headset, but that paired with me forgetting to put it on charge one night and having to use the headset while plugged into the power was enough to get me to return it as faulty and select a wired headset.

As I said, OP's mileage may vary and this was 2 years ago. All I can say is I'm using the same wired headset since exchanging and haven't considered giving wireless another go.

  • Having used a G930 for many many years can highly recommend them. 7.1 works great with Logitech’s software and battery lasts forever. They now have a new G933 version which I presume should be better but haven’t used them. Worth a look.

  • Sony (new) Gold Wireless Headset with Razer Surround Pro / Dolby Atmos / Windows Sonic - (I run with Razer)

    $129

bang for buck cannot be beaten - I use it for PUBG/Fortnite

    • I agree on this choice for bang for buck tbh. I own them and they have been excellent albeit a very average mic, a year after buying them I bought some very expensive Astro A50's for 4 x the price that I paid for the Gold's and was disappointed at the difference in quality. The Astros do sound better but only a bit (much better mic though)

  • I use the SteelSeries Arctis 7, running out of battery has not been a problem, they're rechargeable and usually get 10-12 hours on them.

JB has large mark ups and will give you a good deal if you ask for one, I recall getting around $40-$50 off the retail price of mine when I purchased.
