Don't think I would consider this a deal when you can get the single at Kmart for $9 and Queen for $22 every day of the week:
    http://www.kmart.com.au/product/flocked-air-mattress---singl…
    http://www.kmart.com.au/product/flocked-air-mattress---queen…

As for the D cell one, you are better off buying a normal bed and buying a 12V electric hand pump as the cost of D cells are costly and won't last very long!

    • I have one of the K mart ones and its ok but I dont think your going to get many years out of it, its pretty light build. Though for the money its good for the kids or a spare to bring along.

on a side note - We have a smaller 4x4 and two kids and so space is a concern, I find air mattress are a really good option. 4 self inflating single matresses would take up your entire boot. Also I reckon for partner disturbance yoru always better with single matresses - you can always push them together anyway.

Worth paying extra for one that self inflates during the night. Nothing more annoying that waking up to a deflated matress at 2am because the air in it has gotten cold and 'shrunk.'

    • Only one I know of:
      https://www.bcf.com.au/double-high-airbed-queen-240v/542961.…
Except I wouldn't use it enough to justify that money….

And it's not the airbed 'shrinking' due to cold right?
I was told that the PVC stretches during usage as there's weight on it hence why usually during first few days you need to top it up with more air until it stops stretching!

      • He's probably referring to a self inflating foam mattress, which are 11tybillion times more comfortable than these air beds.

Easily worth paying a hundred more for a self inflating foam mattress over these air mattresses.

  • I find these types of PVC air mattresses just don't last.

Quite apart from the night-time deflation I find they just pop a seam sooner or later.

I've tried a few brands, including the expensive and well-regarded Aerobed and found more or less the same with all of them.

Now I just stick to Xped Megamat 10cm thick self-inflating mattress.
