Other referral systems allow users to select a random user so others can benefit, not just you. But anyway, the beauty of the report button is that a mod can make a decision as to whether this is or isn't within the rules.

Cheers. Yes, I am asking the admin to create one for this. They usually do this when requested and remove my referral code from the post and into the system :)

Isn't medibank one of the PHIs that people swear to never join again on here? As in they are atrocious?

    • My wife just had a procedure, we knew there was a 500 dollar excess for the hospital, the doctor also said we would be oop 400 bux for his procedure…

Took that on the chin as Medibank wouldn't cover it….
Then days later we received another 300 dollar bill from the anesthetist for the oop…
Was starting to get annoyed… Until we received another 150 dollars for another bill that Medibank didn't cover all of again… By that stage I was pretty angry… I mean what the hell am I paying them for… This would have been a free procedure as a public patient… Had a Medibank representative happen to come into work… She couldn't even justify the costs…
We are paying 1170 a quarter… If we would have just paid the while operation out of pocket and not worried about private health we would have ended up ahead.

Heck I've been with Medibank for 9 years… That's about 30k's worth… Would have been so much cheaper just to pay for stuff we needed without Medibank..

Then to to it all of another bill came in a few days ago, another 150 bux oop…

Let alone for much or premiums go up each year…

Yep Medibank is a rip off, and I'll be switching in the next few months…

      • I mean I don't have private health to save money… Is insurance after all…

But it doesn't even cover you!!!

I mean what happens if a car insurance said… That will be a 700 dollar excess please… Oh, and because that quarter panel is scratched that will be another 500… And we had to get the auto elec out, that's another 300 oop please…

      • Pps, I did go though the amounts Medi bank paid it was about 3k… So much less than our annual premium even..
As long as we don't have one of these operations every year we'd end up ahead.

    • For extras i can say its decent.

1 free dental checkup a year
      20% discount on contacts/glasses.

I make sure i use more than what i pay for in my extras premium.

Probably wouldn't trust them for hospital though… Then again i'd apply that to any insurer.

So maybe I'm blind, but where on earth do current members find their referral code?

    • I havent found it either.

    • I think I figured it out. So you need to got to the refer-a-friend link and then you input your membership details (name and email address used for Medibank), then on the referral code, you create your own personal code. It will then take you to another page where you put in the details for the referred person.

      • I’ve got the referral code from an email they sent me.

      • Nah, that's just a site that let's you spam your code if you know it.

    My partner is with Medibank.
How do you generate a referral code?

    • I’ve got my referral code from an email they sent me yesterday. Also, some comments above talked about how to get your referral code.

  • I've had pretty good luck with Medibank so far - there was transfer documentation stuff ups from the previous service (they warned me and we fixed it in time), relatively good wait times. Their prices were competitive, not the absolute cheapest but decent bang for the buck. 100% coverage of optical expenses was a bit better than NIB.

Six weeks free: In addition, if you join residential or corporate cover you must hold cover for 6 weeks to get second six weeks of membership free.

So pay for the first 6 weeks and second 6 weekas is free?

    • This offer is for 6 weeks free and not "First 6 weeks free "

      Title need to be updated

      This is from Chat Rep.

      Mike at 11:31, May 13:
The offer is for 6 weeks free, not for the first 6 weeks.

  • Medibank continually the worst performer according to the AMA
    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-03-26/private-health-insuran…

    • Only mention of Medibank in the linked article:

Medibank and NIB were among the lowest ranked.

  • I generated my own code - MB05 - though the email it sent to my "referee" says "enter the unique 10 digit code". Who knows what will happen! :)

  • What does this actually give me?

  • why is this deal not more popular than it is?

  • What should I look out for when reviewing my insurance?

The Private Health Insurance Ombudsman recommends reviewing your policy at least once a year - your circumstances may change from time to time, so it’s important to review your health insurance policy regularly to make sure it still meets your health needs. For example, if you chose a hospital policy with restricted or excluded hospital services, you may want to increase your hospital cover as you reach certain life stages.
