Medjool Dates (Loose) $11 Per kg (Was $18-$20 Per kg) @ Coles

1330

It's again that time of the year when loose Medjool dates are put on a special price in Coles and Woolies. It is generally a 'once in a year' promo.

Price at Woolies is $13/kg, a tad higher than Coles' price. One of the comments below says that it scans as $11/kg as well.

Go grab some if you have a sweet tooth. :-)

    Medjool Dates Loose

It's been a while since I last had a loose date

    • +6

Yeah, not too many loose dates on this site. Quite the opposite, in fact…

    • I get my loose dates in bulk from Tinder.

      • +1

It's generally from Grindr where you get loose dates.

        • Different strokes for different folks.

    • +1

price was, but to keep you unbold, I changed it to were now. Hope you are happy!

The title already had the noun.

I only like eating these during ramadan.

    • Wait.. ohhhh I see what you did there ;)

  • Today it was the price @Woolies@DocklandsVictoriaHarbour.. Not sure if it was Nation wide..

  • +16

This discount is not available in any other month throughout the whole year.Ramadan should be more than a month.

    • -1

      What?

    • That required one simple thing. Rewritten 'the book', good luck.

    Gooooooooz

  • woolworths select $1.60 for 500 gram = $3.20 a kg, pitted dates, enjoy.

    • +15

Prepacked pitted dates is NO COMPARISON for Medjool. I'm a super tight ozbargainer too, but I cannot resist Medjool dates, especially when they go on sale (TBH that's almost the only time I buy them). I'm happy not to eat dates through the year to buy a kilo of Medjool if that's what it comes to.

      • What are the differences between the two?

        • +1

          Night and day

        • +4

Prepacked dates is the fat lady singing in the shower. Medjool dates is symphony orchestra.

    • +2

mate…not all dates are the same

    Thank you, kind sir!

    Just in time for Ramadan

  • That’s even cheaper than ALDI special sale price this Saturday at $13/kg.
Grabbed a 5kilo box this Wednesday from Coles.

  • Iranian fresh dates are the best I have ever tried.

    • +4

      Tinder or Grinder?

      • Unfortunately I can’t unveil this fact.

    • +1

Any particular name of the variety? 'Iranian date' is a very broad term..

      • +3

Medjool itself sits on top of the umm, dates-chain. There's also Kimia dates, which is equally enjoyable although much different to Medjool. They're both produced in plenty in most parts of the middle east, especially Egypt, Iran, and Algeria.

Medjool is dark brownish or caramel-like in colour, soft to the bite, fleshy, and fruity-sweet. Kimia is so dark it's almost black in colour, super soft to the bite (almost melting in the mouth), somewhat mushy, and syrupy-sweet.

If you look at this picture in Wikipedia, Kimia looks like the one on top left, and Medjool on the bottom left: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Freshdates.JPG

    • Where do you buy them from? I bought some Iranian fresh dates from Royal Nut Company but when I went back the new lot was not as nice (different brand).

Sweet.. Saturday night date sorted ;)

Thumbnail kind of looks like someone took a dump

Just a little bit of info. Usually of dates don't have a country of origin that means they are Israeli dates. Even though it's illegal not to have country of origin, islrael seems to be allowed to get away with it. Maybe because people boycott thier dates because they are grown on stolen Palestinian land..

    • +1

Coles has tagged these ones as of USA origin though. The USA must be farming Medjool dates big time it seems. High value crop after all, why not!

You should keep your political attacks to yourself mate and not post your filth on this site.

  • +1

  • +5

I love OzBargain and Australia being so multicultural.
    Happy Ramadhan and Ied Mubarok.
