[QLD] Origin Energy Solar Boost Plan - 17c FIT with 5% Usage Discount

40

Hi all,

I guess since another energy company increased their FIT, it was only time Orgin did the same.

The same rates as before but now with 17c Feed in Tarrif

https://www.originenergy.com.au/content/dam/origin/residenti…

For the 12 month benefit period you’ll receive a total feed-in tariff of 17 cents per kWh for every kWh of
electricity exported to the grid. When the benefit period ends you’ll receive our standard retailer feed-in tariff
available at the time your benefit period ends as published on our website. Origin currently offers a standard
retailer feed-in tariff of 7 cents per kWh exported which is subject to change at any time. All amounts are
GST inclusive (if any).

You won't automatically be changed to it, so you need to ring Origin to go onto the new plan.

  • Smh and here in WA we get $0.07 if you didn't get it earlier when it was like $0.40.

  • I have 10c with agl
What are the tariff rates and supply charge? Should put in post

  • Pretty sure the grid rate is higher to compensate.

  • Solar Boost isn't a new plan, it has been around for a while with a higher FIT (previously $0.14/kwh) but the problem with the plan is it has the same rates as all their other plans but only with a 5% discount. They also have a Solar Boost Plus plan which pay 2c/KwH more (now at $0.19/kwh) but it only applies if you bought your Solar PV cells etc from them.

    Rates are (before discount):
    Normal Usage $ 0.2696100
    Daily Charge $ 1.2560900

Overall it's still not a very good plan unless you had very high solar feed in and minimal usage. Full details of this and other plans are in the OzBargain Community Australian Electricity Prices Spreadsheet. These Origin plans, like all providers alternate plans are included in hidden cells that you'll need to unhide to view.

  • Thanks! I was already on Solar Boost 14c FIT so a quick call to Origin increased that to 17c.

  • I recently changed to Energy Australia to get their 16.1c FIT. I don't really want to swap back so soon, so i hit them up to match the offer. Someone is calling me shortly. Hopefully i can get the higher 17c FIT and slightly lower usage charge as well.

  • If you have a lot of solar, the current best plan is with AGL as they have a 20c feed in tarrif.
Although there is no usage discount it still comes out cheaper than Origin.
