    Warning to everyone:

NEVER "email full names as per passport, date of birth"

    As this is highly insecure

    • Really?

      • email is (almost always) not encrypted

        • But it is only full name and dob ?

  • What does business class offer to make it worth this and a bargain?

    • +6

      Sleep

    • I have flown to Europe and the USA, and the only times I was able to sleep was in business class (assuming the seat is a lay flat type). Is it worth paying triple the price for ~18 hours of comfortable travel/sleep? Maybe…

    • well its $4000 more than other europe bargain tickets (around $900). so its $2000 extra each way for an overnight 20hour journey. depends how much thats worth to you eg. do you normally stay in $80/night hotel or more $300-$500? You might get some sleep though I found I still wake up every half hour due to cabin noise, temperature and bed comfort.

You also could factor in that you can feel that you are better than other people for a brief period of time.

Spend the extra on a better hotel?

    • +3

The fare break up is as follows:

      $199 Food and pampering
      $100 extra leg room
$200 24hrs wear n tear on fancy chair that turns into a tiny bed
$1000 'get me there on a seat'. Remember it's the same plane as the folk sitting behind.
$1000 for the extra seat that's missing so yours will lie back
$2400 'Look at me, I'm flying business class'

      • +1

Or ~$400 for business class to Europe on points
Or roughly the same but with more points for first class

    • Probably nothing imo. Much better off booking a 1 night stopover along the way if you're worried about not sleeping. Saves $2.5k+ in exchange for 1 less day holidaying (if you don't count the stopover as part of the holiday).

Other option is obviously flying straight on through and trying to manage 3-5 hours sleep in flight. With the newer cabin lighting I don't actually find this too difficult, though you do need to know which seats are good. For example, seats near the lavotory usually get bumped quite a bit - you probably wouldn't sleep much then.

I've just notice a whole lot of SAS codeshares operated by singapore for about 4500 rtn (October bne-arn). This is quite a good deal for Singapore business class.

    • Good pickup.

  • How is this a deal? What's the normal price for comparison

    • Normal Price to Europe is starting $6-7k for Singapore Airlines - especially in July where it should be $8000-9000.

      • Thanks for the info. Makes more sense now

Worth noting that this will get you 480 status credits with Velocity. (500 to reach Velocity Gold)

It says it's an SAS ticket, meaning that's who you're ticketed with.

As SAS aren't a Velocity partner, it will get you nada with them.

SAS are a Star Alliance partner, so you can get points with any of those members.

Emailed quick smart on the last deal that was similar to this - didn't even a reply.
