says 7th gen intel though so probably not worth it.

    • Hi entropy, can you post us another alternatives, thank you!

  • Saved big buying one for my mother from Amazon, then lost big when its hinge gave out after about a year. Keep in mind if it's going to be used by a touchscreen-addict who's repeatedly putting slight pressure on the screen.

    • Was it an aluminum body or plastic ?

      • aluminum

      • Aluminium.

Never mind my dumb comment which I was just about to delete (but can't because it's been replied to), as it doesn't apply to the model in this deal, which lacks a touchscreen.

So what did you get for your mum this year?

        • +1

One of these and some gaffer tape to hold the screen up.

        • Still, the lightweight Asus laptops have never been known for the their robustness. I stay well away from Asus notebooks due to lack of support.

Even when parts fail whilst system is under warranty they either blame the user, or take forever to repair (usual excuse of; Sorry for the delay, no spares nationally). Taking 4-6 weeks to replace a failed track-pad or keyboard is not acceptable.

Anyone importing one of these should also ready themselves for the eventual disappointment of having no warranty/support.

  • Now is a good time.. importing is about to go up by 10% as GST will be collected by the retailer on ALL goods, not just those > $1000

  • Is the RAM able be to expanded to 16GB?

  • RAM is soldered but SSD is upgradeable.
