Google Pixel 2 $59/Mth or XL2 $69/Mth: 15GB, 2 Year Contract + Free Google Home Mini (New Customers, Port-in) @ Telstra

250

Picking up a phone for my friend today and was told they are currently waiving the new phone feeling fee after 12 months. This means you can get a new equivalent phone after 12 months for $0.

Deal is $59 per month for Pixel 2 64GB or $69 per month for the XL. Comes with unlimited calls and text and 15GB data. If the phone is not damaged after 12 month upgrade it to the latest Google pixel (pixel 3 if it is out) for free. It requires extending your contract for 12 months. Normal cost to upgrade is $149, so saving of $149.

I can't find anything on the web, if anyone can find a link please let me know.

  • I thought the pixel 2 went to $69/month.

  • It involve returning your existing pixel after 12 months.

    • and signing a 24 month contract and paying $149

      • +2

The deal is you don't pay the $149

  • Wow keep upgrading the phone for free

    • I presume you can only do it once and phone has to be in good condition

      • +3

Yeah with my daily commute to work. I have lost count the amount of people with a phone with a cracked screen. The ratio of people who are able to return their phone must be so low that telstra hedged their bets on this service.

  • I moved from voda fail last week to Telstra. Got 64gb pixel2 XL PLUS Google home mini for 59 per month for 2 years 0 dollars for phone and 20Gb data in Telstra shop.

I have been trying to get this deal from Telstra over the last 2 weeks with no luck. They keep saying the pixel 2XL has gone up to $69. Can you shed any more details on the plan you have?

      • The $59 with the 2XL has ended?

Absolutely amazing deal though I signed up on. No different to most people (20GB data) but I also get all 13/1300/18/1800 numbers included - this isn't standard unless you sign up on the business plan.

      • Let me try to get a screenshot.

      • So in summary I called the store to ask about the 59$ plan with XL. the guy on phone said the plan for XL was 69$ per month with 20gb. He said they had 1 phone left. I asked they hold it till I could get there. When I arrived was lady only in store. I asked specifically for XL at 59$ per month with 20gb as my phone from voda had died that day. (Is true it did die and I showed it to her) she said yes as you are moving from voda. So she got everything done I signed contract got XL and mini contract said 15gb. She said ignore that you get 20gb. My online account however next day only showed 15gb still. I went back to store twice to ask. Original lady never there spoke to another then manager all said no idea. Said they would call me never did. I got on website chat to billing they said yes you get extra 5gb lady forgot to do it and I got confirmation SMS of 20gb hours later from Telstra. That's how it worked out for me. Maybe I got in just in time maybe she made mistake I don't know.

There isn't going to be a Pixel 3

  • When did Telstra get competitive on price?

    • +6

Ever since their shares started going to shit.

  • Not as good as the recent Telstra pixel XL2 for 49pm, but still a good deal…

    • +4

I don't think deals that happened in your dreams count.

      • Hmm i seem to be having the exact same dream

Well i am living the dram then. I signed up for jbhifi 59$ plan 12 months 25 gb data with 200$ JB hifi gift card. After one week and some arguments with telstra chat they upgraded to 59$ pixel 2xl with Google mini and headphones bundle plus international calls.upon further chat I got 10 $ port in credit as I ported from Vodafone initially.sold Google phone and mini pack for 970
          JB hifi gift card 200$
          Total benefits =1170
          Now I have to pay 24 monthsx 49= 1176
So end up with 6 dollors for 24 months free international calling and 15gb data
All of this for 25 cents per month

        • @Fixmyi: can I have the dram you are having?

    • Link? I thought it was 59.

      • It was. They dreamin'

        • New customer $10 credit. I got it too

        • @jjsnacks: It already included $10 credit though. SO you are getting $20 credit each month?

  • Reckon this will be hard to obtain if half way through the 12 month Telstra $49 sim only plan that was going via JB 6 months ago?

  • Doesn't new phone feeling upgrade mean signing up to a overpriced generic plan for 24 months?

    • +1

Well it means signing up to a new plan, which may or may not be good value.

Note however, you won't be able to access "new port in" customer deals as you are obviously an existing customer.

    • Damn.. this has burst my bubble. Chances are I will want to upgrade to the Pixel 3 but I'm not paying $99pm. When I signed up the deal wasn't port in only but they seem to be going that way lately

  • Extremely unlikely they would have a Pixel 3 for anything close to $59 a month.. so it's not a free upgrade at all.

  • how does one get cashback with this deal? can someone please provide some inut

    • Purchase the deal via the telstra chat. Click through to telstra site from cashrewards.

  • Just had a chat with Telstra representative and was informed that Google home mini was not part of the deal. Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

    • Its a bundle from Google. You will get it

  • I had an online chat with Telstra rep and she said the XL has gone up to $79/month (Friend and Family deal). Can anyone please point me in the right direction? Cheers

  • Talking with telstra today
    - In store they said they are no longer taking any orders for either the pixel 2 or xl 2 as they can no longer get stock.
    - Online Chat, only the $59 Pixel 2 plan was available for residential customers, and the $69 pixel 2 xl could only be offered to business customers. Didn't seem to need to "port in" anymore.

  • Interesting… seems like everyone@Telstra is saying different things.
Yesterday (around 12pm), I was told there is no Pixel 2 XL deal at all at $69 p.m. via Telstra Online chat.
The only "valid" deal is Pixel 2 at $59 p.m.
No Google Home Mini tied to the deals above.

@oxymoron - how can we redeem the google home mini?

  • Okay, I also have had a Telstra rep tell me something different;

They said the deal for Pixel 2 XL @ $69 p.m. was available but not the Pixel 2 @ $59 p.m.

  • just had two separate online reps tell me there's no deal available on the pixel :/

  • Thanks OP for this one.
Went to the Telstra shop in Joondalup yesterday and they confirmed the pixel 2 was out of stock but the 2xl was available still.
The rep said Google are pulling the phone from the market, but not sure if it's because of the pixel 3 or something else going on?
Anyway signed up for a porting in from Vodafone and walked out on the $69/MTH 15gb and free new phone feeling thing.
Plan said $59 + $10 for handset paymemts.
Also come packaged with the home mini and some earphones that I thought was strange considering there is no jack on the phone..
I use BT so not worried anyway…

Also the porting was more or less instant, I had not even left the store and the old phone was off line.. doh.

Time to sell the old Mate9.

  • Yeah just web chatted Telstra and can confirm 2 is unavailable. 2XL is $69
They sent me the below deal details.
    https://www.telstra.com.au/content/dam/tcom/personal/help/pd…

  • Ok spoke to a couple of reps again today and the phones still available on the $59 offer are

    Pixel 2
    Iphone 6
    Telstra signature
    Pixel 2 XL (+$10)

Still needs to be a new service. No mention of the google home.

    • What deal is this? I can't see it advertised anywhere

  • alright, so you pay $59 for the plan and the phone? That seems too good to be true. Or is it $59 or $69 plus the cost of the phone (currently on telstra site it shows +$42 for the pixel xl2 64GB which makes the total cost at $101). Can anyone shed some light on this please.

  • This deal still on, best way to get it is to call Telstra and ask to go to sales department or rock up to store. Deal extended till 02/07/2018. However they run out pixel 2 so only pixel 2 xl available. So pixel 2 xl available at $69 per month on 24 month contract.

  • I know with the JB Hi-Fi deal for $59/month for the Pixel 2XL if you were an existing Telstra customer you could port out to Optus for a day, and then sign up to the deal in store. Considering for this deal you're applying directly to Telstra, is anyone aware if there could be any issue porting back to Telstra if you try the above for this deal?

I'm worried they could check in their system that you were their customer only a day or two ago and refuse to sign you up.

  • I was tempted to sign up for this deal but 2 years is a long time. Given 5G devices are coming getting stuck with pixel 2xl for 2 years no go for me.
